    Troy,
Obviously we each hold different political views. Thats a good thing. Creates options and discussion. And better decisions.
I appreciate your discovering and posting the Militia Act of 1792.
Was it every repealed? Or does everybody have to buy a 12 ga shotgun? 12 balls per lb is 12 gauge balls (Troy already knows, posted for readers who may not).

Let me ask you this. Are you in the least concerned about the erosion of our liberty and the concentration of power in the hands of the fat cats and elitists, who think we are too ignorant to rule ourselves?

Or do you think thats an urban myth, and "elitists" don't exist in positions of power?

Quite a boat. Are you the builder or designer?
Seeing the quality of your work, sorry I argued with you in the cruise ship thread!

It's an established fact that Obama inherited a mess from Bush, not just a claim. And a president can't wave a magic wand and make all the bad stuff go away. I realize this is the age of soundbite solutions and instant gratification, but the hole we're in was dug over the course of years. It's going to take years to work our way out of it, and we need to be careful that the cures aren't worse than the disease.

Troy that equally applies to most of the worlds nations. Maybe we should all wipe the slate clean-(All declare bankruptsy) start over and run balanced budgets as a part of our new founding costitutions.

Yes and Bush inherited a mess from Clinton ect ect ad nauseum
You appear to be aligned with the democrat party line. You seem to think I'm with the republicans. I'm not!
I'm seriously concerned that both parties are controlled by elitists. Like Stalin said, "It doesn't matter who they vote for. They vote for US!"
I'm worried for america and angry at the erosion of our freedom.

We don't need a new constitution. Just force those in power to abide by it and its principles.
Government of the people, by the people, for the people.
Not of, by, for, the rich and priveledged.

Our founding fathers were rich, well educated, priveledged men. Yet, they thought wisdom, justice, and good sense was in the hearts and minds of the farmers, fishermen, hunters, frontiersmen, shop owners, ordinary people who sweated for their living. They didn't trust "aristocrats". Including themselves. We shouldn't either.

I dislike the term 'elitist.' It reminds me of the communist resentment of anyone with intelligence, education or wealth. And although I think Joe Blow down at the corner tavern has enough good sense to help choose the country's leaders, I don't think he necessarily has the knowledge or experience to lead it himself.

I'm 'aligned' with the Democratic Party because at the moment it fits my beliefs and my goals better than the Republican Party does. But I was a registered Republican for a good part of my life, and I may be one again someday.

I'll probably always be registered with one or the other of the two major parties, because that's where the rubber hits the road in American politics. I'm not into pointless posturing, or helping the candidate I dislike the most win by splitting the vote. The people who voted for Ross Perot helped put Clinton in the Oval Office, and the people who voted for Ralph Nader helped Bush win.

Elitism is a political theory based on the principle minority, according to which power is always in the hands of a minority. It is based on the concept of elite, from the Latin eligere that choice (ie choice of the best).

And if Ron Paul ran as an independent. he might take a small percentage from both sides. That would make it very interesting.
