Someone will trump this....how about put yourself into orbit in your own home made rocket ?....easy peasy. Nah, not a boat, admittedly, but a ship nevertheless, a space ship. :p

I agree. Some of us can handle the criticism and some cannot. Back off for his sake. The dangerous sub project has been tabled and that is good. Best not to rub salt in the wound.

Hey, I've got the arrogance *and* the stupidity, but I also have a healthy respect for my own limitations. Given the time it takes to build a simple sailboat, a submarine is way beyond me. I leave such projects for the rich or the ignorant. Such a build will help to cure both conditions....

Not sure but didnt you say you yourself didnt know much about subs? how then can you tell that i dont?--you guys say all you want about me-- doesn't phase me-the sub will get built

-but PDW--funny you talk to me on my tug build like your helping me-but then come here and gossip about something you have no clue about? why dont you just write me directly to say what you really think?--s but now i know how stupid and arrogant you think i really am...
well at least im not a coward...and have the guts to do something everyone on here is scared shitless to do! but wish they could...

no --sorry to debunk your hopes- but i have studied this concept- for the last 5 years or so- on submarine designs, pressure hulls, strength of materials etc--in fact i find my present build more challenging in many ways than a simple civil submarine...

--i can go on ad infinitum about what i know--but theres no point--it has and will last a lifetime for me...three weeks is YOUR little tiny window into something you know nothing about...i stand by my design-my knowledge and my integrity- as well as my determination...its on the table for now--but before my numbe ris up--ill complete this..i hope your there to see it...

that was funny!! good vid--no such thing as failure--only the discovery of
    another way-NOT to do something...

thanks for the concern- no wound here--just a roadbump..nothing more mothing less--a delay....
next time--ill keep my build to myself till its ready

i made the mistake of posting something the others on here arent ready for... thinking people on here-not you necessarily- would actually have something useful to say... sad to say thats not gonna happen
    cheers hoyt

He probably thinks your tug project is feasible but your sub project as spelled out here is not safe. You see some small tugboats built by one man. You don't see subs built by one man.

10000 nautical miles is if you used huge tanks and they acted as ballast. it would be easy to design them into the hull or even have them pressure resistant and incude them in the free flooding compartments--the idea being that you fill up in places like argentina where fuel is about 12 cents a litre.

yes it might be a generous figure but not incapable of working. integral tanks can be made in the hull for bunk supports floors etc same with batteries for ballst- they are lead after all...
the d.e. system is easy- the engine runs in the surface -about 30 hp at 3000 rpms- when surfaced truck alts or wind turbine alts or even a Mars `ME`1003 series motor can give 200 amps charging power to three 300 amp batt packs . the alts run off the main shaft which when the electric engine is engaged it simply drives the main shaft while submerged-if the motor to dirve it is a pm motor-the drive motor also charges.
each battery bank can be toggled off then relayed to another...dont need much power submerged..like 1/4 of a surface vessel.

maybe RRR- but i dont agree with the way it was done. if he thought that about me then tell me directly...
dont offer advice to me one minute and turn around and do this in another- but --the mans entitled to his opinon--im just letting him know im not as stupid as he thinks i am --after all i wouldnt call helping someone on one thread then turning around and call them stupid and arrogant in another of his threads too brilliant either!!...

It might have something to do with the fact that you are with your obsessions a way beyond any help or advice and there's no point to talk to you anymore just give a "don't do it at home kids" kind of warning... just IMHO

Only way I'll get into home submarine fabrication is by marrying an heiress to a very large fortune who insists upon it. And then I'll hire a look-alike for the sea trials. :D
