Kerosene Generator..How To?

Back on topic, I believe the best course is to forget kerosene and stay with diesel. I already have an installed diesel tank with fill and vents. I'll need to convert any ammonia fridge or freezer I buy to diesel but thats simpler than converting a generator engine to kerosene.

Any suggestions for a portable emergency diesel generator for boats?

 

I do all those things, but I stop drinking long before I get drunk and also don't like eating whole animals: one T-bone steak is enough.
With tobacco it's different. If I turn up somewhere without a cigar, people ask if I'm ill. So you could say I'm addicted.

Smoking cigars in this country is an inconvenient habit because they are expensive and scarce, so I "import" them myself. Wooden boxes with 50 Brazilians or Cubans, 20 boxes per shipment, that's a 3-months supply.

 

I buy the packs of 20 little cigars, cigarrette sized ones. In Fla, $2.30 a pack. Seems they didn't get hit by the greedy lawyers cleaned up on the cigarette mfgs so the price didn't go up much. They used to be 80 cents a pack just a few years ago. I buy several cartons at a time.
I smoke 1 5$ to 6$ cuban cigar daily after supper. Very enjoyable.
I also have several pipes I rotate. Pipe smoking is for when I'm smoking outside in wind and rain. I just invert the bowl.

oh! I much prefer eating dead animals to eating live ones. Rare beef is good, but not pawing and bellowing!

 

Speaking as a non-smoker in a family of smokers, I have seen many of them die from the effects; emphysema, lung and brain cancers, strokes brought on by smoking, heart attacks and those living also suffering from peripheral circulatory disease.
Check your fingernails. If they are very curved like claws instead of straight, that is called clubbing and is due to poor oxygenation from lung condition, the result of smoking in my uncle's case.
I am allergic to cigarette smoke and avoid exposure when I can, but I don't tell people not to smoke. I tried to warn them against the danger, but either they never listened or were so hooked on it they were unable to quit.
Cigarettes are more addictive than heroin, so it is futile to press the issue.

I remember you told me. I just thought it curious that the Center for Desease Control apparently deliberately ignored the NO#1 cause of death in USA. Of course CDC is staffed by doctors.
There is so much hidden agendas coloring published data, it's hard to believe anything without researching the tarnish off of it.

If it has to be portable,import a couple silent type ones from China.

If not,buy a good used 5 hp Kubota 1 cylinder and put a 150 amp alternator on it.... 5-7 hours on a gallon

 

Actually this is REALLY interesting as a multifuel generator. If I build it myself, I could certainly repair it!

As far as accidental deaths in 2007 , 39% cars, 18% poisoning, 16% falls,….only 0.6% guns! Even deaths from medical mistakes are three times higher than from gun accidents.

 

With the Kubota,heat exchanger gives you hot water-then run a reefer compressor,desalinator,150 amp DC,and/or a scuba compressor (all via electric clutches) off it.

Take a couple spare clutches and solenoids,and 50 gallons of fuel will last quite a while.

The 10 hp steam engine interests me because, while not triple expansion, the used steam if originally hot enough could be used in a second steam engine and possibly even a third before condensate pump returned it to boiler.
Subsequent engines would need increasing larger pistons to derive similar power from used steam, or, the same sized engines (redundancy in spares) would develope reduced power.
If one engine was a 24 volt 100 amp generator, and second ran high pressure reverse osmosis desalinization pump, and a 3rd was a 12 volt 30 amp generator or AC alternator, all identical engines, using same steam in series. Very high efficiency from the heating fuel I think!
