K800

I have been going over the plans for the K800 multi chine sailboat and think I've gotten all the kinks worked out. I want to now make a scale R/C model. What do you guys think might be a good size to start with?

Also, if anyone has built a real K800, where do you actually put the ballast? Is it all in the steel cage around the keel or what?

 

Best results with a model are with the biggest one you can build. What is a K800-do you have a link or picture?

Thanks! The model I'm building(http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/mu...lf-righting-trimaran-test-model-36058-12.html ) is of an 18 footer and is 5' long by 6'+ wide-the absolute biggest I could do(and then some!). The size reduces the chances of errors to some degree.

 

The drawings there are in AutoCAD, 1:1 scale.

How does it reduce errors? because you can see them more easily?

 

But, when I was looking trying to draw it in Blender things were not lining up the right way and the only explanation was that the drawings for the top and bottom sections were off a little.

 

Number of boat were built from those drawings and there was no issue. Pls find mistake in Your excersises.

 

The structure drawings are what I was talking about. Maybe I picked the only ones that were not drawn to scale?

I used the lofted frames and it made a wonderful boat.

Not all of my post showed up. I think I erased it accidentally

 

In fact, once I used the lofted frames it was really easy.

It looks like this right now. I had tried to put some toe rails in, but I don't know if I did it right and it looked bad.

Actually I am not interested to discuss software exercises with our hull; no idea of wht You do and what purpose.

Everything is OK and to scale in those drawings to build the boat. Period.

 

I wonder if the plans could be scaled up or not. Say maybe make a 10 meter boat out of it?

 

I'm not trying say that there is something wrong with the plans. I was trying to build it wrong and tried to say that in my post and only the last part showed up in the post. I go through phases where I like the boat and where I hate it when I can't figure out why something is done how it is done. That I think, is normal.

Please understand that I really like this boat. I want one so badly I can feel it which makes me a little crazy. Of course I want to customize it and I really want something I could live on so maybe even an 8% scale up would be really nice, but I can't find the original designers because their sites are gone, so I can't ask questions like whether or not I can use plywood a few millimeters thinner, or make it 8% larger, or make rails fir the deck... etc.
