The protesters have the right to protest, but not to camp out in private or city property. Also, they had the right to vote, which they didn't exercise. It would've made this whole protest a moot point. If they are truly the 99%, something that is a lie, they have control of this and every other Western country. According to their claim, the 99% is at fault for allowing all this to happen for years.

The whole problem is "the system is broken". Here we are heading into another campaign cycle and they are again setting up a "choice" of just what will be two horrible choices to choose from. They are hen picked and brought to us by the very same institutions that have created the mess to start with. I really wish our choices were presented to by the people from the people from the ground up. The party system in nothing but a bunch of scurrying rats representing both parties whose only desire in life, is stealing our hard won cheese.

How do you know they didn't exercise their right to vote? That's a pretty big assumption. I'm guessing that the percentage of voters among them is probably at least average, compared to the rest of the country -- and probably higher.

And obviously, they aren't claiming that 99% of the people are in their movement (or non-movement); they're saying they're speaking out as part of, and on behalf of, the 99%. Big difference.

So you think the general populace is at fault for the shenanigans of bankers, financiers and Wall Street, because we haven't managed to organize and stop them? That's like saying it's our own fault we still have burglars and car thieves....

If you exclude the bums who hang out cause we feed, cloth and provide them with a place to sleep, a tarp, blankets, security not associated with the cops. Then I'd say just about everyone down there is a determined voter. What a lot of the protest is about is that your choice has been eliminated when the same few mega corporations front both sides of the ticket and bribe every politician regardless of party affiliation. What kinda choice is it when the two fools your asked to chose between are both on the take.

Look at the fools running for orifice right now, only one who's not bought and paid for is Ron Paul and although he's doing great with the voters the republicans are desperate to keep him out of the news.

You are guessing wildly when you say they didn't vote.

In any case, voting every few years is only a tiny part of politics, as you can
easily see from the number of lobbyists who try to influence politicians.
At least the "Occupiers" are out in the open and not bribing politicians behind closed doors.

How do you define "doing great with the voters"? 10% or more?

Hoyte, that's my country you're talking about. And while there's a lot wrong with it, it's far from being a crap-hole. In fact, it's a better place than a whole lot of countries in this world.

Then quit dragging it to hell.
It's my country too and I don't like what's happening to it.

Stop killing our economy to the benefit of other competing countries who don't give a rat's as@ about carbon credits and laugh at you while you cut the heart out of this magnificent nation.
Our country was built on capitalism not socialism.
Socialism fails every time and leaves the country in ruins and the people in poverty under a tyrant.

Please explain to me how I'm dragging this country to Hell, and cutting the heart out of it. Then explain how I find time to do all that, considering the hours I work.

Troy, that's hardly a reason to accept the wrongs... We have the same argument given by some if we complain about 16 000 murders alone, not considering ie **** and other crimes) a year in 50 million people but some say it's not that bad... For the US that would be like 48 000 murders alone... and we are being disarmed by laws raping our rights. I believe similar is happening there... and in a lot of other countries all over.

Just because it's 'better' now doesn't mean it won't turn worse any time soon, sh2t goes wrong quickly. Watch the government - they're the shits that causes more deaths than anything else.

History has proved that where ever the government / authorities disarmed their public a massive genocide took place in almost all instances, Russia, china, germany and in a host of African countries. There are no country where the public was armed and a genocide took place anywhere in history ever.

To check if who you vote for is ligit ask them to express their attitude towards the public being armed and if they are committed to protecting your rights.

The crap-hole we sit in has a genocidewatch.org rating of level 6 out of 8 levels and the government tries it's best to disarm us with a cripple law that rapes at least 8 of our rights, including the right to life. Guess why ! The murders of black on white is excessive but we may not mention it because then it is racism - considering only whites can be racists here. We whities are an estimated 3 million out of about 50 million...

Lemme say that again - To check if who you vote for is ligit ask them to express their attitude towards the public being armed and if they are committed to protecting your rights.
