That would be the oil from the palm fruit, rather than the kernel ? The latter has a very bad press in western countries, whether deservedly or not. That golden orange palm fruit oil is beaut, but hard to find here.

The swelling got so bad my skin burst.
So I spent a month upside down with the leg in the air, and the swelling went down a lot.
Cumidin dosage is changing regularly too.
I feel sorry for the Doc trying to keep up with the changes.
I'll probably live a while longer though.

I know a bit about cumadin, My brother was on if for over a year. Nothing as severe as we're discussing here, but with all the testing it was no fun for him. The Docs got him through with a laser cauterization of a lot of nerves inside his heart that caused it to rapid-fire. Hang in and follow their advice. As a by-word I've read a quote attributed to Ben Franklin: "beer is proof that God loves us" Good enough for me

 

Cumadin is becoming commonplace now. It has a generic (Something with an X in it) which can be severe to Stomach linings.

Anybody with Mechanical heart valves will be on it for life.

 

Sorry to hear about the skin opening. I was afraid mine would but it didn't. I was lucky. The leg is much better now. For the last few weeks it has quit swelling. I credit aspirin and chocolate for the improvement. I took the rat poison(warfarin and coumadin are the same thing) for over a year. At the slightest hint of anything such as discomfort or tightness in the leg I take an aspirin. I keep them with me all the time in case of emergency. You just never know what might happen.

 

They kept having to change my coumadin dosage too, based on clotting times tested sometimes twice a week.

 

My test was 51.4 two weeks ago. This morning it was 19.1. Too much of a Swing so we are doing 9 Mg each evening till some Doc. tells us different. I wish I had one of those testers but the Doc says a test ever 7 days is sufficient.

I cant work with this much Cumadin in me. I get very tired very quickly.
I hope you can keep working. It's not a good idea to stop!

Do you know that sitting for long periods like air travel and in front of a computer is associated with an increased risk for thrombophlebitis. So too much time on this site can be a health risk.

 

No --sitting a long time will give you pulmenery embulism wich can turn into thrombosis. Asprin is what I take when I fly infact I take them every day,-- pediatric 80mg

Have you considered amputation ?

 

Long before Computers my Dad said: "Sittin on yer butt is gonna make it flat when someone finds you sittin on it and starts kicking yer butt into action"
So they had some good medical advice way back then.

All us Heart patients take the Baby asprin once a day.
On the plane, you get a pillow and stuff it in behinnd the small of your back. It helps.

 

I take asprin becaue it was the done thing, Im not sure it is anymore. I still run and walk a lot or ride a bike I also have a serious attempt at pickling my heart in alcahol most evenings.
