A New Zealand woman nearly died after her hand has accidentally severed during holiday sex on a yacht in Croatia.

The 28-year-old woman was having sex with a British man on a bathroom sink aboard the yacht when the sink broke, severing her hand when she fell, the Croatian Times reported.

Police from the island of Hvar said the woman's hand was reattached during a six hour operation by surgeons in Split.

"It appears they were engaged in a passionate act in the bathroom where at some stage the sink broke -- leaving a jagged edge that severed the woman's hand when she fell to the floor," police spokesman Kraljevic Gudelj said.

"The young woman almost died, and was only saved after she was airlifted to hospital where doctors managed to reattach the severed limb. It had only been attached by a small amount of skin."

The couple are understood to have met in Croatia and ended up on a yacht in Palmizana Marina.

Police were now trying to track down the Briton.

"We believe it was probably an accident but the British man has fled and the New Zealand girl is understandably hard to speak to at the moment. We want to track him down to find out his side of the story," Gudelj said.
A spokeswoman for the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said they were providing assistance to the woman and her family.

 

Tragic, but part of me is thinking of funny things to say.

 

Well, that's surely a traumatic experience for everyone involved.

But - of all the damn places aboard a boat which one could use to have sex, a tight bathroom is probably the last one I would ever think about. Hell, one can barely pee like a man in a damn boat toilet!

 

The door had a lock. Sure would like to know what that sink was made of that was sharp enough to cut through bones. not pottery or porcilin

 

Many new designs use those glass bowls above the cabinet level, all supposed to "look right", in other words, more like the 5 star hotel room, forgetting basic good seamanship for marketing to the better half, who of course, are the ones that authorize the purchase in the end anyhow.

 

Do share with us, Mr. Landlubber, how the below observation makes them "the better half"?....
(If you've figured out something that the rest of us haven't, at least I would like to know it.)

We have read the reason for her severed hand, what part don't the police understand? Close the book get on to serious crime.

The Briton has fled. He's in a boat. They move, that's what boats are for.

Probably taken his boat to a carpenter that specialises in bathroom repairs.

Sex in a bathroom? I can't remember when I had sex in a bathroom, I can't remember the last time I had sex in a bed. Probably last night I've got dimensia.

 

Well was it in the SOR?
As a superyacht designer this is something to consider

 

-- so ... no serious injuries?
-- nothing important was damaged?
-- so how's her left hand?

Ok ... ok ... I'm sorry. Quit groaning -- I'm not the only one who was visualizing this. The Brit may have lost something more important than a hand.

And yes... one can hardly blame the designer, or builder for that matter,
if the equipment was being used in a fashion other than was intended...

I dont beleive it. SEX is a good seller but a bit below the belt just to sell a mag.

I dont believe you can severe a bone with jagged edge of porcelain and since when do yachts have porcelain sinks. I am assuming porcelain because of the reports word "broke" stainless don't break.

You need an axe to cut a raw chicken leg off wether its having sex or not.

Im sure the police will discover that she cut her hand off in the outboard while boarding and didnt notice it.

 

Fortunately I don't have experience in that field, but yes - it does sound odd. However, considering that in the heat of the "battle" they have fallen down together, he might have pressed on her hand with all his weight, which could be enough to cause this injury, if a very sharp object was beneath.

Considering the investigative efficiency of croatian police, I'm pretty sure they might arrive to this conclusion.
