Reynolds 21

I just purchased an old Reynolds 21 catamaran. Trying to find more information on this boat. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I know...I lucked out in meeting Charles. He was putting a 21 together for me but I found a Cross 28 Trimaran and went that way instead. He has a lot of gear for the 21.

No luck

Just got an answering machine. Will try again next week. In the meantime will be making saddles to set the hulls on while working on the trailer.

Couldn't get any contact with charles. In the meantime does anyone know for sure if the 21 has foam core in the bottoms. It doesn't in the sides. I'm asking due to the fact that when moving the hulls the port hull is considerably heavier than the starboard. Wondering about the foam being water logged.

 

Find a marine survey service that can provide moisture readings on hulls, or simply buy a moisture meter.. chances are if it is a wet core it would be easy for one of those things to tell. Actually, if the weight difference is that noticeable, lightly tapping on the hull with a rubber mallet should tell you a lot. A wet hull is often softer and has a dead thud to it, while a dry hull has a bit of a ring to it, like a bass drum. Just comparing the sounds the two hulls make should be enough...
