Hello Glenn. If you have a Wanderer you're working on why don't you post some pictures too?

    Banyandah

    Gday Glenn

Banyandah sailed in the only multihull Sydney to Hobart in 1966. It was won by Bandersnatch. I don't think your boat finished. I have to get out my mags to check. It was a light wind race and the fleet did have some drop outs.

Are you sure you need such a high dodger? It will severely affect your boats windward ability and increase leeway a heap. With their low aspect keels Nicols do not like extra drag above the water. If you cut it down to sit down height under the dodger you could add a headroom height bimini with no front or sides to protect you from the sun without spoiling the boat's sailing charateristics. You also lose a lot of luff length. The best compromise would be to keep the boom lower at the front and have the boom aim up to barely clear the lowest possible bimini.

You will want to be able to sail well to windward when you are bashing your way south against the soueaters.

    cheers

    Phil

    dodger

Hi Phil thanks for you info . yeah dodger does look high but only loose a foot of main sail
plus shower will be in cockpit are and water catching from roof as well as holding solar panels . also boat has swing down keel that works great 5''6"
dodger looks higher than it is because its only skinny

Hey Glenn, Renegade , a Vagabond MK2 in Oz has a similar set up. I'll post some pictures after our summer building and sailing of ours. I drew out some swing keels/ centerboards but went with a offset daggerboard trunk though it will be next year before we put the board through. Most of the Nicols have deeper keels now including mine which work fairly well. My dodger manages to be lower because the floor there is dropped to just above the water line with a partition/beam keeping the cockpit water out. Done that way you lose access to the aft berths from the main cabin unless you go for standing room on one side only. Of course the bunks wind up getting moved aft etc....My Vagabond 2 is a different boat but the layouts and options are about the same.
