Yes... there it would obviously be short for '2 grand,' meaning two thousand.

 

From my readings I know that "2G" or "2 Grand (or Grant?)" means two thousand dollars. Perhaps you US friends can tell me if the general Ulysses Grant is the effigy in the 1K bill (oops... is there a 1,000 bill?)
"2G" is also a way to refer to "two gravities" as in acceleration. "0 G" would be then absence of gravity.

Although most houses in the US used to be framed inside and out with 2x4 walls, I'd say the majority of them (here in California, at least) are now being built with 2x6 exterior walls, and 2x4 interior walls.

I don't think I've ever seen a home with 2x3 interior walls...

 

Most stores sell the full 8 footers, leaving it to the carpenters to re-cut, at least for the do-it-yourselfer.

 

Most people aren't carpenters and want 8 feet when they pay for 8 feet.

"G" can also stand for "generation". You can see these in use for mobile phone such as 3G phone or 4G phone. Which means a 3rd Generation phone or a 4th generation phone. However, when used for money, "G" stands for "grand" which is a thousand. One grand therefore is one thousand.

"K" is for thousand. Remember the infamous "Y2K" scare or the year 2000 (2,000). Also as a unit of measurement such as kpsi, or a thousand psi.

 

If you write it as 1/0, then it is equal to "do and don't". But 10 as in ten cannot be "do and don't" as there are ten possibilities.

 

G can also mean Gig as in giga-byte. In economics M can mean $1000 while MM can mean a million dollars.

1/0 is also an electrical wire, or cable, size.

K=1024, not 1000. Usually clarified by KB.
Then 'Meg' (MB) is 1024x1024, or 1,048,576 and not 1 million
and 'Gig' (GB) is 1024 MB. I don't think you would see just 'G' for GB though.
Then people tend to say 'terrabyte' or TB (for 1024 GB) rather than try to say terra, terror etc. Guess they wouldn't want to confuse anyone

'k' is the universal system of decimal prefixes, so 'kilo' meaning 1000 or 10^3 (one thousand).

 

Vote for hexadesimal... It's kind of more visual form of binary and thus easier to deal with IMHO.
