Absolutely essential if you ask me. I got two for a discount price from a buddy who's a car parts jobber. One for me and one for my neighbor Robert. He likes to come over and just hang out. He'd like to help but health is an issue.

Yup. Unless I mess it up somehow! :p

I got to spend an hour of quality time with my belt sander tonight. I ran out of peel ply and used somethin' from the ole' woman's sewing room. It didn't work too well and I had to grind it all off!

Fwd cabin roof going together next. Just waiting for some good weather and supplies.

If you're interested I've posted my extra set of plans for the bateau TW28 for sale on e-Bay. Item #130512226245

The designer has given his blessing and will extend after sale support to you just as if you had purchased the plans from him directly.

Moved both halves of the main cabin roof outside. They'll be stored here till next summer probably. All wrapped up nice and neat to keep them dry and safe.

Moved onto the bulwarks. These are pretty simple joins so I did both sides at once. Never did that before so we'll see how it goes.

Once these are out of the way it's onto the bottom and side panels. They're big so some thought into where to put them is needed. I don't want to have to move them too much.

Laying out the first bottom panel to scribe the cut on the hull extension panel. It's 31'10" long, my shed is only 32'! Looks like it's going to be "UP AND OVER" soon! :p

That is technically "Traditional Irish Truth Sirum" or (****) for short. I'm told it holds special powers to aid in boat building and is a universal antidote for fiberglass snake and Mahogony Sliver Snake bites!:p

More or less grunt work at this point Cat. Assembling the long panels is a lot like watching paint dry. ;)

More of the same ole' same ole' this weekend. This is the second bottom panel lined up ready for taping and gluing.

Biscuit joiners were on sale this week at Canadian Tire so I couldn't pass up the deal. I think it'll come in hand a few places on this project once I figure out how to use it.

And back to my favorite theme (it seems) watching epoxy cure!

Bottom panels done. Onto the sides now.

Might have a torn meniscus in my left knee. Hope that doesn't affect the boat building process much. :(

Lovely job . Best material for a boat in my view - light and strong...

    Thnx folks.

Today I ran into a lil' situation, totally not unexpected though.

The side panels are 32' 3" long. The shed is only 32'!

I knew this was going to happen and sort of planned for it when I built the barn doors. I've opened them up to give me the room I need to get around the boat (I hope).

It's not pretty but I don't care as long as it keeps the rain out. It was over 90 degs F in the shed today so I have to put some thought into more ventilation!

That's it for today. Going to see Gordon Lightfoot tonight. If he doesn't play "Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald" I'm going to ask for my money back! :p
