Design weight from the study plan is approx 910 kg. So perhaps he is quoting the all up displacement.

    Hi Guys,

Received an email from Larry Newton,

    " Hi Diane & Reuben

Nice to here that the club is still doing well and hope we can get over get over for a meeting or event this year.

Sorry to say that the plans for Whimsy are long gone. There is a retired sheriff that worked part-time for the Gougeon Brothers in order to learn what he needed to know to build one. That is the ONLY one that I have ever heard of and I am sure the West Epoxy Systems guys will be very helpful if you contact them. As drawn, the boat is a great sailing machine but very difficult for an amateur like myself to complete one in a reasonable time. Many things should be changed to make it more builder friendly but I wouldn't change one element of the lines!

    Best of luck!!
    Larry Newton "

Have sent an email to Gougeon quoting the above so here's hoping !

    Cheers,

    RR

    Another dead end :(

As mentioned in post #52 above I contacted Gougeons, here is there reply

" Yes, there was a police man / sheriff who hung around the shop here in Bay City, Michigan while we were building boats. He never worked for Gougeon Brothers. He did build a Buccaneer 28. He did a fine job. The boat was light, nicely detailed and kept simple. The construction took about 5 years finished circa 1980. He put a wing mast on it, the old one off Adagio and used Adagio’s old main sail. The boat was a good sailor and quite fast. But the police man did not keep the boat long and sold it. It went south to Florida and was wrecked in a storm. I have no knowledge of where building prints for that design could be found."

Bloody tragic, sounded like a fine boat, and so another trail goes cold.

Oh well keep nosing around people, you never know !

    Cheers,

    RR.

    2* plans?

Came across this while cruising the net. It lists several boat plans including this one. Before going further has anyone heard of this place?

    B-XXVIII for sale - - plans ??

Saw this ad on the site of the Dutch Catamaran & Trimaran Club CTC.

    Translation:

    ‘‘ Trimaran B-XXVIII for sale, date: March 13, 2011

The +49 phone n° is German. The +31 phone n° is Dutch (leave the (0) out). The + can be replaced by 00. The e-mail adress is also German.

The ad is on this link 4th form above for now. I think the boat is in Germany.

Does it have plans to go with it or sold separately..?? Don't know, but it might be worth to ask . . ;)

If someone is serious about getting that boat, it might be worth to put it in a container and ship it . . ? ?

On page 2 of the above link there is also an old ad for a B24 renovation project which might be still for sale.

If it's in the north of Germany, my gut feeling thinks so, then maybe you could ask Franziska to have a look if someone wants to buy the boat, or to assist if there is a language probelm, but I think they speak, read and write English.

    Good Luck..!!
    Angel

PS - Franziska can also be reached through her website, see post #9 of the link. And Michel also lives in the north of Germany.

I emailed the owner a few weeks ago that I was interested in the boat and also telling him about this thread.
    No reaction yet.
To my knowledge the tri is located in Andijk, the Netherlands (google earth)

    Cheers
