    Plyak

Just added a few pictures of the seat i'm building for my plyak (link to gallery). All the weaving of the seat is construction nylon string. The frame is mahogany. The back frame is the same. THe top hole in the back will have the same weaving. Getting closer to the water each day I work on it........All comments are welcome good or bad. makes for a better learning experience.

I just finished the decking inside. Seat back is glued and screwed together. Webbing of the seat is started. The seat has a white stripe along the center line to match outside decking. The inside deck is removable so that I can clean under it. Please take a gander at the pictures. I haven't figured out how to load pictures with the threads yet, but sooner or later I will....

That's quite the seat you have there! Looks like it should have a Victorian lady sitting in it taking High Tea at a classy hotel! When you take a drink in it, remember to stick out your pinky!

believe it or not it's supposed to hold two people. With my fat butt in it ain't no way. I really don't know where I'm going to keep my tea pot either. It will work just fine for a good fishing trip. By the way, the seat is very comfy......Hope to get the rest of it done before spring is over.

Its a common problem. And have you noticed the further away from land you get, the more the boat shrinks.

If you get some big waves from a passing speedboat - you have to balance on a 3" plank :)

Been working on bow and stern lighting. stern light is removable and rubber plug fills the hole. Compass is installed. As soon as I cover the last piece of decking on the bow I'm going to get this thing wet. My buddy asked me whyit needed to have lights on her. I thought it might be nice to take a midnight paddle some where. Please do comment on what you see. I really like to hear from other builders, Thank you

could use a little guidance on the plyak

I have the plans on my pc and have seen your pics of the plyak. Could you explain, maybe with some pics as well, how the bottom skin works cause the pics and reality do not seem to jive (what am I missing?) to be clear, the bottom should be smooth, v-shaped. with a "fin" forming out the back. Am I getting warmer? how does the plywood skin go on with the bottom keel sticking out several inches? Do you shave it to a "V" shape to match the ribs so the skin lays flat? I feel dense but in both your pics and the plans it shows this keel piece sticking up. (or down if the boat is in the water).

Sorry to take so long for answer. My keel is one piece. I added a 3/4"x3/4" along the side of the keel. One thing for more support the other was so that the plywood had a surface to be glued and screwed to. In the plans they say to just lay the plywood next to the keel and glue (epoxy). My thoughts were that with any rocking or hitting rocks it didn't sound to solid. better safe then sorry. My boat is very over designed. All plywood is glued then screwed with 1 1/2" brass screws. If you have any more questions let me know. If your building, I would love to see pictures.

    pics?

again i am VERY new to boat building. could you send a few pics of your plyak upside down? one from the front/side and one from the back/side? from the looks of your boat your REALLY know what you are doing. thanks for the help and guidance!!! so in the front, you ran the keel right up the ribs and in the rear it went right out the back, like a fin? maybe even sureformed down to an aerodynamic shape?
