Megayacht hull design (hull series, offets, etc)

Hi there!

I am doing a project and i have to design a megayacht hull.

I wonder whether I can find some offsets for some hull series and use them for my design.


Does anyone know where can I find such information?

I have found a NPL hull series model but the shape is too old style and I would like something more modern.


Does anyone know what hull series do the most megayacht designers use, or they just design their own hulls from scratch?

I could also design a hull from scratch, but its performance would be doubtful, thus I am thinking of using a hull series model and keep only the underwater body.

 

All "megayacht" (read small-ship) designers are first and foremost, not individuals, but highly skilled teams, and all of them will have produced many previous designs. The will also have a list of requirements, and design the boat to meet these. There are a few different hull-form configurations, but within those, changes to previous hulls tend to be fairly minor. There is good (financial) reason for this. Do some research on the web, in books, and at the local marina.

We do not do your projects for you. I have a degree, I don't need another. But we will answer sensible questions.

Just to help me find some information.

 

If you think a designer is going to give away offsets,this project will definitely add to your education.The original post says that the project is to design a megayacht hull,so perhaps you should just go ahead and do so.Any shortfalls in performance will need analysis and understanding so you can progress a little further in your studies.There may be some helpful images on various builders and brokers websites which will show the normally used hull forms.

 

Design speed-> Froude number-> Hull type appropriate for this Froude Number -> suitable series -> above water easthetics, -> bla bla bla.

use WW2 German E-boat hull.

Seems to be the intersection of several important graphs.

Smallest semi-displacement able to nudge the "50 knot barrier".

Smallest able to go fast in fairly rough seas.

Remember the E-boat was developed from a mega-yacht.

 

here is hull plan, but I can't tell if the marks from 1 to 20 are

at every meter or something else, as the E-boat was 32 meters long.

Maybe this is a diff version.
