    Believe me, EU rules are not that stupid. Just across the border in Ukraine they require box with sand, on board of small pleasure craft - for fire fighting...

    Yah..got a mate in Sochi, Russia. Its supposed to be being developed into the St Tropez of the Black Sea. Yikes !!!!!! talk about hands and wheels to lubricate. Whoever manages to lubricate best is gonna make some cash. Any news who got the contract for the new Mega yacht marina ?

    :)) - we are just 10km away from Ukraine... same rules are standing here plus the EU rules. It will take a few years to harmonise the legislation but till then you are at the mercy of the harbour master who drinks and eats well from us just to close his eyes when the sand box is empty :))

    As to Sochi, we designed water taxi catamaran for them also. Will be used for coastal transportation during 2014 Olympics.

    Hey Alik, Would you show me a cat model that would suit my project. I am looking on an open layout as it is intended for birdwatching. Do you have such model?

    I am not sure, but they have quite long coast with number of piers. Olympic objects are in mountains, but visitors are likely to travel along the coast also.

    Something like this? Maybe too wide for You, but gives plenty of space.

    Nice one but indeed to wide. The max width would be 3.5m as some of the canals are really narrow and the tree branches rub against the hull.

    How fast will that one go and what power is needed to get up to 35km/h? What about price? Where are they made?

    Beam can be reduced;
    Power - You need about 2x80HP; have to check that;
    This boat is under construction in Malaysia (damned slow!); for You better option is to build one in Romania (or in Ukraine :) ) otherwise shipping cost will be huge.

    4 Wheel Drive Boat

    The first tests where done last year (using parts on hand). It was not a good drive system using a 1.2 hp motor and flat belts to act as a clutch as well as transmitting power to the wheels. It lifted easily on a static line with the belts producing clouds of smoke. Based on that semi successful test I refitted the model with a, clutched, 6 hp motor and slip free chain drive. However snow is starting to fall here so the first, free running, tests will probably be on snow.
    About a dozen engineers and 2 naval architects have reviewed the principals involved and none have suggested that it will not work as claimed, but none of these individuals have tried to calculate efficiency (easier to model test).
