This is an example of a design from a low deep water experience sailor and full of all the obvious misgivings about design, concepts, application, etc. The best advice that could be given to this poster is to go to sea and get some miles under your keel, before making grand speculations about deign criteria.

I think a 30 ft boat is perfect size for cruising, especially with minimal crew or solo. Many have done it in much less of a boat, the Pardees come to mind (24' and later a 26' wood sailboat), and there are many others of course. The cost and amount of work to build and maintain a boat goes up with 2 times the square of the length (the inside and outside surface area). You have almost twice the area to clean and maintain on a 40 ft vs. a 30 ft hull.

I also suggest getting some time in sailboats, volunteer to crew for anyone in the local yatch club for races. You will learn a lot about operating a sailboat in all kinds of conditions when racing. The best way to learn is in other peoples boats.

IT would be far better I think to find plans for an existing boat, a proven design, about what you want and just do a custom interior. With some time in other people's sailboats you will know better what you like and do not want in a long distance sailboat. Or you can buy a used sailboat and refit it to your liking, this is even less expensive than building if you get a hull in decent shape.

    Good luck.

This is just not true. It would be more proper to say that it goes up as a function of surface area.

And while it is true that there are a lot of people that have gone long distance cruising in very small boats, that is a far cry from trying to design one yourself as a minimally experienced sailor, let alone designer.

No, no, no, it's a function of surface area as an inverse to the cubed square root.

    I made some changes:
Move forward to the cockpit of a rib pitch, making a little space on the deck to expand to become less distress.

Window is divided into two specifications:
    400x500mm
    400x150mm
They are all double-layer thermal windows.

Since only Fools and Yachtsmen beat to windward, you might contemplate a really long range motor sailor concept.

In a boat this size 6 HP will help sailing to windward the times it will be needed.

Something like a 12hp Yannmar or Kubota might use 1/4 to 1/3 GPH so long range would not be much fuel.

The small engine would suffer less in port when used to charge batts , cool fridge air cond or operate a water maker..

HI Exile. A flush deck on a small yacht is hard to do. Makes the topsides, high freeboards, look all out of proportion to the yachts length and the boat looks tubby. If you prefer a flush deck, why not take inspiration from the Stone Horse design.. by Sam Crocker

" STONEHORSE" designed by Sam Crocker. Popular boats when I was a kid. Manufactured by Eddy and Duff.

Lake use of such boats for, or when the weather is sunny, in the vicinity away from the shoreline use.

Slightly larger waves can fill the entire cabin.

Waves that fill cabins, do so at the gross stupidity of the skipper, not the designer, unless the designer doesn't know what a bridge deck is.

I live in a tropical area. We have sun 345 days out of the year and it's intense. Flush deck boats are not used in these areas, in fact they are very rare. The advantage of a flush deck isn't keeping water out of the cabin. Keeping water out of the cabin is a very simple engineering problem and simply solved.

I'm not sure what you're afraid of Exile, but sailing is a pleasant experience.

Yes and no. Preventing water from entering the cabin is a different design challenge, separate from using artistic sheer line treatment to give a yacht a pleasing shape. The design I sent you is simply a way to have a flush deck and an attractive profile. Many other tricks to style a short, high sided vessel. The yacht pictured below, built in the Netherlands, also uses styling to hide it boxy shape. Very nice vessel. Remember. a vessel has two purposes...to be seaworthy and to look good.

And as Par noted..on a flush deck its difficult to built opening hatches for ventilation. Flush deck can be uncomfortable hot when sailing on a perfectly nice summers afternoon.

Cabin more centered...looking more like a Southern Cross now. Compare your lines general layout with the Southern Cross and you will be getting closer. A larger fin keel & small diesel engine for moving in/out of harbor would increase safety (not to mention a using a solid hull/deck plan). There's always more details in the final spec. Have someone review it on completion then go build it.

I hope the boat can sail with particularly bad weather and ice cold arrives.

To make the structure strong, not too much increase in weight, will try to simplify the structure of the ship, there are no major openings and downs. The connection between the various lines are not sharp ridges and concave, to maintain smooth transition.

Shaped by a slight expansion of the waterline and not necessary convergent high-speed navigation. However, for a voyage filled with boats overloaded goods required for the linear no matter how well you are not much faster, but also unlikely to have access to water-skiing opportunities for fast navigation. But even so, still better than the old full-keel boat fast. Moreover, it helps reduce the wet area, structural strength is relatively high.

Nearly circular cross section, so that the same situation of getting off the interior space of the surface area is relatively small, light weight. When capsized hull can be no such arrest was quickly back.
The initial overturning moment the ship is relatively small, do not expect to maintain especially tall mast and the area. So that when the waves roll rate is relatively small, relatively low frequency of swing.

The cabin can be completely sealed to ensure water is not any bad weather, even when completely submerged in water is also the case. To this end, the back door by plane rather than the commonly used monolithic structure to facilitate access to the two-piece construction.

If you're in the cold storm, sailing on the deck manipulation, within 5 minutes you feel may be challenging and stimulating. But in this wet and cold conditions over the 2 hours I'm afraid we must pray God to keep you out of this early state of the pain. Not to mention such a situation may last for a few days.
