Design brief for anti-whaling vessel?

Any good point, but you didn't go far enough.

The first question is what tactics do you want to employ to stop whaling? Torpedoes or ramming, or cutting across the bow, ect... Only once this is decided upon will a conversation be meaningfull, otherwise it is like asking What is the best boat for a day on the water with friends. (Where, how many friends, how long do you want to be out for, weather conditions, special equipment required, and on and on).

Once you tell us what you envision doing with this vessel we might be able to make suggestions. But also include operating funds... running a 150' ship at 70kn is possible but do you have the money to pay for fuel,

 

"Neutralize." Such a clean, inoffensive, harmless-sounding little word for attacking a ship and destroying its propulsion and steering.....

But it isn't the word I would use.

Disabling a ship actually puts everyone aboard it 'in harm's way,' particularly in remote antarctic waters, and I hope you aren't actually suggesting it's something people should be trying to do. Personally, I'd have no problem at all with whalers mounting deck guns, and sinking anyone who tries to disable them.

If they'd rather harpoon the SOB's, I have no problem with that either. Not because I'm pro-whaling, but because I'm anti-terrorist attacks by anyone, including Paul Watson and his merry band of eco-freaks.

How about building one that looks like a whale, like an artificial JAWS! Let them catch it and drag it up the mother processing ship where it is then cut open spilling it's radioactive liquified material rendering the ship useless as a Hiroshiam garden!

Since current satilite info is sold , you should be able to track the vessels you wish to destroy as cheaply as can be done.

There are many cruise missles aviliable in the proper markets.

Land launched from the back of a truck carrier is cheaper than airborne delivery.

No need to go aboard a boat , unless you want film credits.

I think the jury will be in soon against Japan. Their "scientific" missions to justify killing whales are a bogus cover for their love of whale meat. The more negative publicity they receive about this practice the better. If that doesn't work, whip up a Captain Nemo machine and let-em have it.
