I might end up a witness in a criminal case who knows

well just have to see what lunch brings

I am scheduled to talk to my lawyer tomorrow so I'll just think things over and take it from there

Questions to ask yourself:

-Do ya want to wait a year and have all that stress/aggravation/expense to maybe get hands on it??

-Maybe tell broker to cut a cheque to lawyer for your costs so far and you'll drop it all??

-Tell broker to find another similar boat ASAP,now that you have vice grips on his private parts??

i have been there, it's not just a matter of criminality,it's a matter of he said and he said and if there is not an extensive record of it happening, the da won't touch it, just my opinion

i once had mail redirected and upwards of $10,00 in checks cashed, but sense I had business with him in a company, I was told it was a civil matter

the postal inspector flat out told me they wouldn't do anything until it was about $50,000

he also took some machinery and there was nothing i could do that might not wind up costing me more than the losses

so if you can make the crime look like a business transaction that doesn't rise to a threshold you can most likely legally get away with it

 

well I did almost nothing over the phone so I have it all in writing

there's really not much doubt I bought the boat and not much doubt a week later the guy turned around and sold it to someone else

Apply pressure to the place that will be most effective. Since the bad press may be desirable to the broker (which I think is BS from your attorney, who might be in his pocket or at least friendly to it), put the seller on the hot seat. It was after all their responsibility to behave themselves or control their agent. I'm telling you, a call to their national association and the pressure will come from within their own origination. The bad press is a lot cheaper then law suits and often much more effective. Lastly, find out how politically connected this broker is, then look up his rivals, who will likely pay for some good dirt on the guy, which can also be used, particularly in an election year.
