Since whales can't vote or pay off politicians, they're pretty much fodder.

Speaking of whales as if they are a single species in in my opinion quite misleading, roughly speaking there are probably around 6 million whales in the world but that's like saying that there 7 billion primates in the world, if you don't look at how many of those are chimpanzees and how many are humans the total number is irrelevant.

This having been said there are many species of whale which are virtually on the brink of extinction and others that are thriving, I'm not advocating for whale hunting or preservation just pointing out that a whale is a pretty broad term.

Agreed, there is no logical reason to kill any animal for sport or food, we are fully capable of getting all/any nutrients and energy from plants.

I'm not a vegetarian but from a resource based standpoint I find it hard to argue with the logic.

in the us we have more deer today than in the 1800's when they hunyed for basic food needs and we have eliminated their natural predators

on result of hunting is deer are getting smaller with smaller racks as they are least desired as trophies

someday we'll have deer the size of dogs

That is not entirely true. Some necessary amino acids are only derivable from animal protein.

I like the blue vessel in the background with the nice navy anchor in the hosepipe, and the red antifouling. Nice sheer too :p

The best anti-whaling ship is a very fast camera ship with an uplink that show live what is going on 24/7. That way they public opinion will be persuaded to change , making it illegal.
No one in their right minds would do the things they do. They are maritime clueless and one day one of then is going to get killed. I remember the episode they lowered the rib while mothercraft was steaming along at 8 knots. The rib got slammed into ship...Duh.. These are not rocket scientist here.

Sorry but my deers are huge and the moose are plainly gigantic.
they come to see us, to eat the apple, and look around.
One moose put his nose in my window one day, it was an amazing site, and let me tell you the racks still quite great, and you don't want to mess with these giants. And they are plentiful.

But I agree with you, the Liberty Ship are beautiful. I saw the lines in the museum, and I was amaze of the elegance of the design. It is a very efficient hull, with one of the most beautiful run I ever seen.

they were purpose built and fulfilled that purpose admirably, that has a beauty all it's own

cheap and easy to build, easy to fix and more durable than given credit for.

i agree, their hotshot, tosspot, vacant, childish, catwalk ego's invalidate a worthy cause, their lack of personality works against them, because they are convinced their more important than their cause
