but at this point why use a sphere you wouldnt have to worry about spinning if it was a conic section, seeing as how its underwater and rolling on the surface now, which would help reduce the drag by massive amounts increasing fuel efficiency.

drag coefficient of a cone with an angle of 60 degrees is .5

No, but I did read that!

A rather dumb comment, let me say!

Being a developer of holiday resorts and complex industrial plants, by profession, I made my living from ideas, a whole life long.

But greenhouses on a yacht, rocket propulsion, solar submarines or blue water cruisers made from chipboard are not ideas, they are lunatic drivel!

If YOU like such nonsense, go and find it elsewhere.
Here we like to discuss serious ideas and developments on boatdesign and related topics.

    Regards
    Richard

For an idea to be taken seriously, it should be an improvement on an existing system.

Since the beginning of rocketry the payload has been near the front, for some reason none of the designers had the passengers behind the rocket.

You are now suggesting a cone, why don't you stick it ...................... on the front of your rocket. You will not be able to apply for a patent as this has been done before.

You titled this thread funny idea. Unfortunately it is funny-peculiar rather than funny-amusing.

You do the math, I've shown you how. Then show us the results and how massive was the drag reduction. And how much more would your idea become feasible with that modification.

That gave me a large headache .... i mean honestly to think of an idea with out so much as basic understanding of the concept, math, physics etc.. behind it is like giving a monkey a paper and pencil and ask him to write a solution for making nuclear fusion battery reactors fit in ur watch and can be build in a garage by one 3 year old child with no more material than tissue paper a towel and a tooth brush .......

It's really not such a rocket science. ;)

J?, If the cone were placed on top of the head, and you had a 3 legged stool, you could write D-U-N-C-E on it and sit in the corner, facing the wall of course, so you wouldn't see any unpleasant ideas.

Don't come down too much on these "dreamers", I get a good laugh, then I cry for this is the future. People that think anything is possible because they saw it on TV in Doctor Who or some other dumb show. They don't know enough to know the difference between real and make belief. These same people are running our governments.

That is so true and so disastrous for us all.

Me individually? Huh? Or "one" in general? I thought it was clear that I was making fun of the idea and the OP's statement about you "not liking ideas."

    No no,

    You in general, not individually.
