DIY Sportboat; best designs?

    The problem with forward swept keel was: the foil should be very rigid, otherwise it is twisting.

    Alik, How would the Pluto 800 compare to the Phuket Sports 8 in terms of speed?

    Less weight is more speed; generally nothing else :)

    Pluto800 is heavier (1200kg vs 850kg) and designed in 2000 for different Rules, where 1200kg was the lower limit.

    As I remember, on Phuket8 there are bolted wings 2.45>3.03m; so total RM is higher as well.

    Alik,

    How difficult would it be to take the hull design of the K800, and put a higher performance rig and keel on the boat?

    Like say, a rig with:

    Main - 25.6 sqm
    Jib - 16.0 sqm
    Spinnaker - 94.0 sqm.

    and a bulb keel with an 2.5 meter draft?

    Can be done, but any sence?
    Structure has to be revised.

    where does one find carbon/nomex developable panels?

    I believe Bieker has a local source (local to him in WA State) who can provide the flat panels, pre-cut and ready to assemble.
