One of the problems with this debate is the tendency of deniers to lump everyone who believes in AGW into some category of "these people," then carry on like all "these people" are green-*** MF'ers. I'm sorry; your average climatologists or citizens on the street are not psychotic, green-*** MF'ers, and it's pointless to call them names.

To claim that acknowledging AGW will somehow lead to anarchy and the destruction of western civilization is preposterous hyperbole.

And those guns you're so proud of? You might as well keep them put away; they aren't going to tip the debate. If you insist on pulling them out and waving them around, you'll find to your surprise that a lot of other people have some too. Nothing in the Constitution restricts gun ownership to paranoid right-wingers.

Those who believe AGW lump everyone who does not into the "those ******" group, so what's the diff?

Certainly no threat. When it gets to "Mad Max", I really don't think the hippies and AlGores are going to fare well. I am just concerned for them is all...
Well, gun ownership is not limited to the right but look at any firearm forum and find me one person of the left persuasion! Check out a view of the 5th Annual Right to Keep & Bear Arms Rally at the Penn Capitol

You are attempting to cast the debate as one between the wingnuts on your end, and the moonbats on the other end. But in the long run, neither group will prevail; common sense and legitimate science will.

And there will be no Mad Max scenarios regardless of the outcome, so don't get your hopes up.:)

The 'diff' is that we're not trying to write off the vast majority of legitimate scientists as ******.

When someone has to paint damn near the entire scientific community as conspirators or the lunatic fringe in order to make his case hold water, he loses a certain amount of credibility.

Well, well, well! Who could have say it? :) Some scientists asuming warmers thesis say now high GHG levels (of course of anthropogenic origin) are protecting us against another Little Ice Age!

Philippon-Berthier, G., et al., 2010. Role of plant physiology and dynamic vegetation feedbacks in the climate response to low GHG concentrations typical of the late stages of previous interglacials. Geophysical Research Letters, 37, L08705, doi:10.1029/2010GL042905.

According to such study, the global climate would be about 5°F colder (3.14 K) than present were it not for human carbon dioxide and methane emissions. OK, consider this: During the Little Ice Age, thought to be one of the coldest periods during the past 10,000 years or so, the earth’s average temperature may have been 2-3°F colder than present. Associated with the Little Ice Age are all sorts of human calamities—widespread crop failures, plagues, famines, population declines, glacial encroachments, etc. For a collection of descriptions of all the fun times that a colder climate brings, take a gander at the Wikipedia page (not precisely an sceptics media at all) on the Little Ice Age. After spending a few minutes there, you’ll see that these were not high times for humans.

They state: "...we estimate that in the absence of all anthropogenic GHG emissions, the current climate would be approximately 3.14K cooler."

Wow! What will the GWA crowd say now? :D
