Can you beat a $37 buck boat? with trailer

All made from scrap and unused items . Very fishable

I have built a number of small boats for under $50, including several sea kayaks and a 14' sail boat that cost me a total of about $37, including the sails. None of my boat projects had motors, but I have fixed a "free" outboard for use in a future project. All have used salvaged stuff I have collected for the purpose of building boats.

I have built 10 small boats, the most expensive one cost me about $100. Lot of cheap ways to get on the water if you are careful and keep your eyes open for opportunities to get great building materials.

Thanks ! It reminds me of the saying Need is the mother of invention. And Then I see the lawn chair duct taped, bungee corded, and bailing wired to stacks of pink foam WITH a trolling motor .

 

Very clever what you did, but if you take out what was given to you and what you had on hand, it would cost a lot more than that. There have been cases where people PAID to have a boat which could have been refurbished hauled away!

Yes you are right , But that is the whole point and the fun of it . It didn't

Ask anyone who hasn't used a seyvlor inflatable for a year or so- I see these put in trash cans to be hauled away every month or so. I've seen these abandoned on river banks which could be patched up to work again. Look at scrap metal dealers that will let you have one with dents that can be worked out for the price of metals. Look at the HUGE numbers of cheap rotomolded kayaks that you see in the trash dumps or at garage sales almost free all the time- never get used more than once a year, if that. Check the newspaper classified that run free adds for stuff that is given away- I have seen free haul away boats there.... USA is a very wasteful place that quickly tires of its toys!
