    When did Evinrudes start running underwater?

    @hoytedow,
    Nobody said the design was perfect!

    It also has a truck axle welded to the bottom, to make it easier to launch on the boat ramp.

    I should note, before anybody gets the wrong idea. This isn't MY submarine, it was simply moored at a harbor I spent a lot of time in.

    ...one would imagine that if you can afford a big outboard like that, the owner would have enough brains to understand a few more relevant engineering principles

    Han, you have, indeed, set the bar high. In fact, so high that I am going to take a drive, myself, and find a specimen in this land of home-made and cobbled together. I believe I know where to look but pray I don't bring a curse down upon us all with this most hidious thing, vile, corruption of God's law, wanton waste of raw material, Medusa, and home of the powers of darkness and evil. I will present...The Albatross (after this build-up, I hope I can find it!).

    Wow. Hideous is the word for it. I scrolled through all the pictures, and it's just as sterile and ugly inside as it is outside.

    Excuse me while I go wash my eyes with bleach water.....

    I understand money shortages,bad luck,etc but with probably similar effort and $$,it could have been at least styled a little.

    And it's not so much the esthetics (well,actually it is)-but resaleability.
    It's usually hard enough selling a boat,why make it harder by styling it after an LSD induced vision of a Mad Max inspired nightmare?

    The funkiest floating homes I have seen are those built with little money.
    Imaginative use of driftwood,bottles,ropes,logs etc is something I can respect.
    Welding up sheets of steel into a box I can't.

    I'd rather live in a Davidson Tugger

    Turns out the owner of the Albatross I was going to delight you with got wind of my intent and moved the boat to Seward a day early. In fairness, his other boat is an all time favorite and I'll share it - the American Beauty, an 108' Marco, not weird but magnificent...

    Lol,

    That ingenious gentleman lives down the street from me. :D I don't know him personally, but he drives a semi tractor with a NASA sticker on the side as his daily driver and I heard he builds custom gatling gun exhausts for motor cycles :cool:
