well thats kinda what I see as the most likely scenario

a slow asemblage of wealth by an ever decreasing number of members of the corporate oligarchy until there is basically a small wealthy class a large working poor class and a rare few supper rich class

governments are looking more and more like puppets all the time

I think that could be made to go on for some time and in the end the "end of the world" will not be simply in the changing face of an economic norm but instead in the inability of the physical system to sustain the numbers of people

we are after all breeding like rats and there's simply no way the planet can sustain this kind of run a way growth in the face of ever diminishing resources

at some point our end of the world scenario must be defined

otherwise we are stabbing in the dark with the boat selection

    my two cents

    LOL Masalai,
My Grandfather graduated from the University of Chicago in midlife and ended a professor of Economics. Both my mother (his daughter) and my father were formal students of his. Opposition to Keynesian Economics is in my DNA! :)

A few years after school I began first to read Friedman and then began to dig deeper, discovering the Austrian school of economics. I found with a little bit of chagrin that it was what my dad had been telling me since I was just a wee bit of a lad.

I asked you a question about all of this a few years back and your views expressed then are coming to pass. My financial advisor is me, I have professionals who help me administrate my meager holdings, I listen to their input but their primary role is handling the transactions.

My greatest fear is inflation eating up my financial core. Traditionally when a government has written a check they can't cash, inflation is the tax extracted from the unwitting populace to give token payment to the swindled holders of debt. My government would never do that...or run up huge projected debt in demented Keynesian schemes they can't even administrate effectively...or nationalize failing industrial giants subverting legal bankruptcy precedent. Or would they?

Thanks for your opinions and viewpoints. It's good to get a view from someone who is outside the local sphere looking in and ask them what they see.

    well that was interesting
my grandmother was the second woman to pass the bar exam in Michigan and was ten years an adviser to the new economic regime of Japan after the war

oh the things she used to tell me about economics
odd part was that I was interested even as a kid

    still am actually

    cheers

What kind of boat? Probably something that could carry about eight people and lots of livestock.

As for size, probably something in the range of 300 cubits by 50 cubits by 30 cubits.

I think gopher wood was the traditional material for a boat of that size and type. However, since nobody seems to know where to find gopher wood these days, or even what species of tree gopher wood comes from, I think the boat should be updated in a more modern material, such as steel, and for construction method I think it should be Ark welded.

It is not that kind of the end of the world - READ YOUR BIBLE - God promised to never flood the world with water again...

    - - - But he said nothing about not flooding the world with liars, cheats thieves, - - - - (to be found in such banks as Goldman Sucks, JPM, and HSBC, who are some of the owners of the US Federal Reserve Bank, - - - - and the politicians who happily accept this, - - - - and the bureaucrats who turn a blind eye to all the shenanigans in NY & London), - - - - and of course the blind and stupid idiots who cannot see or admit to the impending financial disaster which will be an ECONOMIC ARMAGEDDON....

More on economic trends here http://boats-n-stuff.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,3.new.html#new

Your pre-used toilet paper will be worth more than the US$ and many other currencies sooner than you expect... That is your Armageddon... Are you another in the aforementioned visually handicapped group ?

Whao, you realy unhappy with the world we are living in.
So what can we do about that?
I was reading a book written in the nineteen century, the author was as furius as you, and it was the same tone :p
Or you have a solution, or you just go with the flaw and try to be good to your friends and family. Order and sanity start at home.
    (I just wrote a load of crap:p )
    HAPPY EASTER SUNDAY EVERY ONE

    dskira,
These links would be a good start to keeping abreast of the news that the mass media will not cover http://boats-n-stuff.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,3.new.html#new I update as soon as the information arrives...

The system was exposed at the hearings run by the CFTC and net-cast live on the Thursday before Easter... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wIMpe9SjfQ (he was time constrained so listen carefully)... This website http://www.thedailybell.com/940/GAT...Andrew-Macguire-Whistleblower-Statements.html gives a good overview of the troubles we are in because of the extreme levels of fraud and corruption... It appears that the whole financial and political system in USA is too corrupt to work and the main players have found a lawless place where they can continue in their fraud.... almost unhindered... because the politicians are controlled and the watchdogs are asleep and toothless...

Just think what would happen when the world realises that the USA is so far in debt that its currency (US$) is worthless and NO ONE will accept transactions in US$, not even to use as toilet paper.... NOT A JOKE... Then think carefully what will happen in your country that IMPORTS EVERYTHING.... Prepare for something as catastrophic as that and you may well survive... Go find "Jim-the-one-much" who used to be in Texas when he was active on boatdesign.net, and is now possibly home in Maine near you... I feel he is a survivor...

Goldman Sachs, JPM, HSBC, and the other shareholders and OWNERS of the USA FEDERAL RESERVE BANK are perpetrating the biggest fraud on the US$4.5trillion a year bullion markets as well as most other markets that take their interest........

Yes now I remember, I said you seams unhappy with the world.
Of course you right, but what can we do?
I live a good life, meaning I live with very little means, with the most beautiful woman, we take time to complement each other, I design boat, I built them, for people who share my values, I do not travel anymore, I don't watch the news, I just do my duty of voting and paying my taxes.
My Chevy was bought in 89, and my log cabin in the middle of nowhere is my castle surronded by beautiful trees and with mooses and deer coming around the house.
I don't hurt people, and I stay away from the one who want to hurt me.
It was not like that always, quite the contrary, but I learn that if I live in peace and sobriety (not from booze but from thoughts), I get less furious, less distracted and don't miss opportunity to discover really good people.
For long time, a sentiment of constant anger blind me of many magnificent moment, the anger make me doing the wrong thing, and made me very arrogant.
I hope all that is behind me, and everyday is a beautiful day. I make it beautiful, with abandonement.
And if **** happens, I try to be wise enough to see if I can make the difference by reacting or if it is out of my reach.
If I make a planking right, I am the king of my domaine. I micromanage my life.
I am happy and in love with my life, it took me a very long time to understand the concept.

    dskira,
All you need now is a vegie garden, some ability to grow free range poultry, or other protein and to be able to store surplus vegetables & meat during the winter - autumn and you have the potential to be totally independent of whatever may befall the world... Well done...

Have a thorough read through this - lots of helpful information here http://www.autopot.com.au/default.aspx?PageID=A9C2C317-D440-4C40-8283-4A650FCBEB76

Thank you. I do the most things myself, I do my own paint for house and boat, I cook a lot with a clay pot, I try to be with the smallest "foot print" as they now said
One thing I can't do, drive me nuts, never succeeded, always fail, with rotten result, is a veggie garden. They escape me, they are devil, they are mean to me, they want me to fail. I am at war with them, and I will win before I die, I will have ONE tomato inset of buying them like all my veggies :D
