CAD vs. Paper

    Thanks. The old plans are just approximations, final fairing took place on the building board -- especially for carved hulls. I always recommend doing a half-hull before starting a model, laid up on the buttock lines for accuracy. Many of those traditional hulls had subtleties that are hard to visualize off of renderings, whether paper or computer.

    I was thinking that a good use of this thread, would be to describe how you utilize the tools that are comfortable to you.


    And how your designs evolve in your mind and how that translates to images that could be use in construction, or marketing.
