Pushing a boat too hard

That is a 1968 Coronado 25 I sailed last year from Milwaukee to Cartagena. The flexing of the hull while pounding made that section crack. The other damage is the V berth forward. It cracked from the flexing and pounding. The smeared paint is from the anchor rode and happened after. I rolled over the boat in that passage too. Here is a photo of her at anchor in Colombia.

Ah, neglegence ! The man sailed with the anchor hanging off the bow hence smacking the bow with each wave. I'm surprised there is so little damage.

Post some more pics Gonzo, we'll get at the truth about that crack too

Columbia, in South America. Home to Shakira of "Hips don't lie" fame. Now there is a good mental picture to start the day with.

Given his published starting point, he may not have entered the North Atlantic at all.

Milwaukee is in Wisconsin, and there are two routes (both shorter, safer and faster) than going down the St. Lawrence to the Canadian Maritimes. The most likely route is down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico, or the other is the Erie Canal and down the Hudson to the Intercoastal Waterway.

I'm sure Gonzo will clear up his route for us!
