Pushing a boat too hard

This is what I do to boats. Beating into the weather for weeks:

 

So is this the mast area?

Plastic boats are scary but maybe thats just my prejudice.

 

Beating into weather? The stem damage was caused by a hard object, it seems - a dock? It looks like an obtuse blow and it left a little rotten dock wood on the putty, smeared the paint into the cement, in fact. I don't see anything that suggests mast area. The damage to the hatch area seems totally unrelated. How does one patch ferro-cement - if that's what this is?

 

....emmm, I too expanded the pics, I would be very concerned about this boat too mate....this damage is NOT because you were beating to wind for a few weeks, this damage is about a boat that has some serious construction problems.........

 

Actually the bow damage photo appears to be a sacrifical "false" bow that would be easily damaged in a collision but not damage the actual structure of the boat.

If it isn't, then yes there seems to be a major design/construction issue.


Regardless, the whole premise of the thread is bizarre, "Look how tough I am, I can break a boat."

Yeah I read it that way at first too, then let it go, but if that is what he is saying, them he has a lot to learn both about the sea and boats and seamanship in general.....

 

My guess about that "sacrificial bow" is that it is a cement boat and that is just putty up there to make a shape. Hard to say - Maybe he can enlighten us. But that damage to hatch area is telling about the construction, in general.

 

Maybe the helmsman was asleep Anyway reckon anybody being tired after beating closehauled for weeks

 

Have you guys not read any of Gonzo's posts before.

He obviously knows more than a lot about boats , probably more than most on here.

I have no doubt Gonzo knows a good bit about boats...but from the photos it is hard for one to avoid the question of whether his type of sailing lately is causing stress conditions/damage that perhaps the boat was not designed to undergo...

 

That boat...was designed to be a birdbath. This thread was a joke, I think.

I think that Gonzo is pulling our chain.

I also suspect that he may be running from the law because of failure to pay alimony. He does travel around a lot doesn't he? (just joking Gonzo)
