Publicity for their cause. As some wag here put it, it's like a reality show from which they hope donations will flow.

    Miniscule.

A very, very tiny bit in the grand scheme of things.

On the Brit TV show QI, Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson told a story about when he tried whale with a seal flipper and garnished with grated puffin. He said it was like licking a Turkish urinal.

So, instead of whale or dolphin try licking out your toilet. You'll feel much greener knowing you've done your bit for the environment ;)

    If the Australian Govt.
REALLY believed they had territorial sea rights in the Southern Ocean and
REALLY believed the Jap ships were Illegally fishing in those waters.
Then they should send out Navy frigates, Board the Whalers ships and sail them back to an Australian port, impound the ship and send all its crew back to Japan.

Is that likley to happen ---------------------NOT ON YOUR NELLY.

Our Pollies are GUTLESS WONDERS.

I would definitely feel greener but not in a good way. How did Jeremy Clarkson know what it was like to lick out a Turkish urinal?

    End of story.
Both vessels are getting paid for their cheap theatrics.
A shame really, not the first time a good boat was destroyed for a Hollywood production.

    Yawn....
    Time to change the channel.

How many people are you willing to have killed per whale?

I shudder to think. A hint could be that one of his friends is nicknamed Adam because he once found an "apple" on the throat of a "girl" he went to bed with in Thailand.

Any ideas how long it takes to cook a puffin so you can grate it?

Probably about the same as a bald eagle.

Well then, maybe they aren't gutless; maybe they just don't really believe it. Or maybe they don't think the rest of the world will stand for them seizing the whalers, and don't think the limited whale harvest is important enough to start a major international incident over. A smart man will pick and choose his fights, based on more than simply what he considers his 'rights'....

By the way: it seems to be taken as a fact in this thread that the incident occurred in waters claimed by Australia. Can anyone back that up, or is it just an assumption?

I have a recipe for seppo redneck, but apparently it remains pretty unpalatable.

Dolphin tastes really good if you marinate it overnight. Otherwise the flavor is rather strong. It has the same texture as pork.

PM of Australia has been sent an email, I await any response but with no optimism I have only read the first page of 6 and will continue reading... As leaving the scene of a vessel in distress is not the right thing to do, but others have done the same thing in the past... steering to stbd by the whaler is NOT defensive, and is stupid, if as claimed rope or netting was trailing astern of the "Andy Gil" - hard to port would have been expected as a defensive response in my humble view... I wonder if the silly girl near the camera got all sexcited?

Sea Shepherd has boarded whalers before - were they trying to close with Maru to board?

Just thinking about the videos. How did they get three videos loaded from sea?

Those are big files for a sat phone or F55.

Also, the one taken from the deck of the Japanese deck ... why would they release the video? Seems to give the Japanese some bad press, or at least more press, so why would the Japanese go through the effort of making the upload from sea?
