    Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. I'm primary a shore bound bass fisherman, and have been looking for a way to get on the water cheaply. Here's my idea:

    What you'll need:

    • 4 Pool Floats (the kind you lay on)
    • 4 pool noodles
    • some rope (buoyant rope)
    • two 1, or 1/2 inch flat things of ply wood (enough to cover the floats)

    ~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
    So here's my idea, tell me what you think!
    So you take the floats, and attach them two by two on top of each other, using water proof super glue. once you got them like that, take the ply wood and put one under the floats, and one over them. Take a drill and some screws and drill them together, with the floats between them.
    Once you got that, you take the noodles, and cut them into, 8" pieces, and put holes in them, about every two inches. Than take the rope, and but it through the holes, and around the screws, to lace them all together.
    And if you don't wanna stand up, than get some kinda lawn chair and put it up top to sit on!
    ~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~

    If each float is 5 bucks, than 20 bucks for that. And probably a buck each for the noodles, so that 24 bucks. And than with the ply wood, around 10 buck each I say. So if you all ready have the rope and screws, than that should be only about 44 bucks to get your self on the water!

    Now to me, that sounds like it'll be pretty stable, enough to hold one man. To move around, just get some ores, and a low propulsion troll motor.

    so wudda you guys think of it?

    It sounds like a good way to troll for gators. Bass and gators have overlapping habitat. You may want something a little more gator proof or they will unwrap you like a candy bar. Find yourself a used canoe, at least.

    I suppose anything could be called a boat. Maybe you ought to stick around and set your sights a bit higher, try a real boat. You could do it with a little help from the forum.

    Go for it, Bassboss. It doesn't sound practical to me, but it's cheap and sounds like a lot of fun--not only to build, but to try out. Where else are you going to get that much entertainment for only $44.00?

    But we expect pictures.:)

    You don't have any alligators in California, do you? Here, they take people apart.

    Maybe he should leave someone ashore with the camera, then.....:D

    As far as I know, there's only been one alligator ever found around here, back in the thirties or forties (a ten-footer that supposedly weighted close to 500 lbs, though). So you're right; I tend to think of boats as transportation and toys, not alligator protection.

    They aren't too bad, unless you get careless. Even Park Rangers have been taken out by them.

    You can buy a small inflatable boat for that price, just add air and you're boating. Check Wal-Mart or any other discount store for one.

    A cheap pop up shelter from the same store and he'll have a three season cruiser.

    Reminds me of an electric chair, and for the same purpose no doubt, but look at those ducks hovering in the background waiting.

    Man those ducks look vicious.

    It's all a big misunderstanding. You can see the guy is pointing at the ducks and doesn't look too happy while the ducks obviously think that guy was sitting on top of a giant duck and they're concerned.

    The lawn chair is tied down with rusty baling wire. But what the heck are those floats made from?
