    It's OK, Sam.

No need to defend one's pleasure. ;-)

A well turned-out calf is nice, be it male or female. I mean, as long as we're talking form and function.

than there are differences in germany and austria albeit being both part of EU.... ;)
there are of course 2 schools of architecture in austria as well... one at the technical university and one at the 'Reinhard Seminar' - an school for art, actors and such... both are architects and can name themselfs so - there is no difference in between them because:
neither of them is allowed to do their own statics - at least not in austria... and i don't know if this is an EU or purely austrian regulation...

for 0815 box-like houses no static is actually needed but everything beyond that a structural engineer (thanks ;)) has to do all the calculations and the armament plans for the concrete structure... no architect, no matter which school he graduaded, is allowed to do this on his own... he is solenmly the so called 'planing instance'...

if an architect applys for becoming an engineer (baumeister), he actually has to lay down his architect profession - the reason being that he cannot be the planing, approving and executive instance in unisono - gewaltentrennung...

Well, there are differences I see.
There is the Engineers school (which in fact is a university), to study construction engineering. No Architect! (though membership in Architektenkammer is possible). But all the calc.s are mandatory to the last extend.
Then there is the Architecture studying at the University, focused more on the artificial aspect. All basic calc.s are mandatory, but not certified for anything bigger than a simple one family house. Idiotically these latter ones are by "nature" Architects.

Die Frage der Gewaltenteilung in Österreich war mir neu! Hat aber Sinn.

    Gruß Richard

    Palatable to WHO?

Some will judge Windhorse (below) a perfect example of beautiful design and function. They will note simplicity of line and form, her unpainted aluminum exterior matching wonderfully her no nonsense cruising role. Others will judge her an ostentatious and vulgar display of wealth, the cold, hard surfaces of her unpainted aluminum exterior signifying ugly contempt for the world around her.

Some will judge the sailing yacht below as a classic beauty, she's got plenty of shape, lovely overhangs, and lot's of varnish.......Others will judge her a true horror from another era. Waterline not long enough, huge waste of effort and materials to build, no useful interior, and the maintenance! Aag!

    I like it.
Simple straight lines and gentle curves can look remarkably good.
How big ( long ) is this ?

it's the 73 wallypower... so she might be around 73 feet... ;)

i like the wally sailing yachts... not their powerboats... but i do not like powerboats at all... ;)

in my opinion they are an "ostentatious and vulgar display of wealth" in general... especially when one thinks of their diesel-consume and keeps in mind that our resources are diminishing by the hour - they are far more than just a waste in space, time, resources and money...
heck - i do not even have a car for exactly that reason... ;)

This stirred some discussion in Finland. It is the official yacht of the President of Finland. Again, a beauty to someone and butt ugly to another.

Sorry. I linked it without reviewing and the original didn´t show that big on my screen. I will resize it.

But after all, it IS a presidential yacht. Isn´t it supposed to be grandioso? :-D
