Stern is perfect.. just how I like. Agree with Rick about the missing bow view The boat is nice too

The three young ladies in the power boat are friends of my wife. They
are triplets, as is my wife. I have known them since they were about
two years old. They have the face of an angel and a smile that says,
"Give me your credit cards and car keys"!

They are avid boaters, launch and retrieve the boat with the skill of
seasoned veterans.

They are Missy, Misty and Melisa. They told me they love "Dirty old men"!

If you notice, their out fits match the boat!

One problem is the boat attracts too much attention. There were a dozen or
more looking at it when I got to the launch ramp. The rangers stopped to
look and gave me a quickie inspection, I didn't have a horn. They let me
launch any way. Life jackets are their main concern. And fire extinguisher,
not required if there is no fuel on board. I have a small kitchen extinguisher.

 

A shot under way, if just barely. After nine hours
of tacking, reaching, running and drifting, I was
ready for the locker room.



I feel real good that the only thing I had to change
was the out haul, added a block and cleat. I also redid
the hold downs on the trailer to make it a bit quicker
to get it in the water. I had to tighten the rigging up
after a few hours, but that is just normal stuff I think.
Everything else worked as planned.
I had to get a larger cooler, ran out of water first trip out.
Had to cut it short.

Since the project is complete, this is the last post for
me.

Thanks to all that replied, and those that just looked, you
are welcome.

BHOFM, congratulations! - - I am sure everyone else is looking forward to your next (larger liveaboard) project... Good sailing...

 

The next build, if there is a next build, most likely not,
will, might be, a 16' scow. Simple, light weight, quick
build.

I really don't think there will be a "next build".

I just hope there is a "next year".

 

hello all.. this post was impressive.. you have motivated me to build a wooden boat with my hands. I'll do it one day.....

 

It is a beautiful build and reminds me of old times in my living room.

 

Can't believe this thread has popped up again!

Well while is is here, The boat gets taken out of storage
Monday and a good cleaning and checking over. I looked
at it the other day and a couple places the filler over the
screws has popped out and I am going to try and seal the
seams in the transom a little better this year. All the gear
has been stored indoors so I am sure it is fine.

I spent most of the winter building RC airplanes, even
the
wife got into it and build one, a rubber band jobie.

I have spent the last couple months redoing a couple
RC sail boats I build years ago, about twenty years in
fact.

One just needed some cleaning and the electrics checked,
cleaned and greased. A good compounding and some wax.

The other I refinished the deck, all new running hardware
and rigging. Sanded it with 2000. compounded, polished
and waxed.
Put some wheels on the stand to get it to the water a bit
easier, twenty years ago carrying a sixty pound boat to
the water was not problem, but things change.

Also I have two new Grand kids. Girls, thirteen years old
from Brazil, their folks were lost in a flood a couple years
ago. My daughter is not adopting them, we are going to
see they get a good education and keep them healthy
and let them decide later what they want to do. Twins
BTW and cute as bugs.. One has a bad infection we are
dealing with right now, a bone chip under a tooth.
They are getting new bikes tomorrow.
They started school Tusday, whole new ball game for them
but they like school and are extremely smart so they will
pick it up quickly. Sixth graders.

I lost my son in law just before Christmas so my daughter
is a single mom with five.

This sort of thread is one of the things I joined this forum hoping to find, BHOFM. Thanks for sharing your build, and thanks to those who chimed in with their comments.

With a little luck I'll eventually be sharing my own full-sized build too, instead of just the scale-model precursor I've been working on.
