T^3 post away, many may find it interesting, however the author may be saddened at the loss in sales?

This encompasses the message I was trying to spread, and may upset the "deniers" who were offended by "lies and witchcraft"....

 

my plan is to continue day trading on board
Ill need a strong internet connect but that shouldnt be to much of a problem
course I got my *** kicked in the market today but still didnt take to much of a hit
so Ill make up for it in tomorrows session

Do you sense significant changes must be made? - - How will you continue to practice your "cruising Yachtie lifestyle"

yes, significant changes are in order. we sold our stink-pot, a fun gas-pig with all the bells and whistles. our next project is wind & sun, and won't be for a while. fewer amenities and comforts...my wife won't join me as often, silver lining if you will.

Does the economic changes we are experiencing, give you different ideas as to cruising grounds and type of cruising boat as your "liveaboard"....

yes, in the sense that economics influence global politics and public sentiment of foreigners. we now plan to cruise just american shoes and inland waterways. 26' with retractible keel is plenty of boat. manual rigging, solar assist, deep cell, redundancy, etc.

Im sure that part will go fairly smoothly

well I fit all of the above its just that trading seems to be getting more lucrative with every jolt the market takes so if I can just keep it up I should be able to trade aboard with out to many problems
Ill just need a satellite link

was hoping to build as much of a traditional sailor as possible
wood construction is easiest to fix at least for me
hemp lines throughout cloth sail that I can fix patch if needs be
alcohol auxiliary a few deep cell batteries and some solar cells
also a wind generator for when Im sitting round and its cloudy
that way I can run the powered generator less

 

The economy has more or less directly dulled the knife used to cut the dock lines.

I have gone to securities trading like Boston to make a dime as my clients are keeping funds close and not calling.

I find it a tough and uncertain way to make a buck & this effects how much $ goes into my endless refit of my Rhodes yawl.

Dumb luck had me up 300% on two trades- more just dumb and I am down to 117% up and will skim off some $ to buy a Garhauer mainsheet traveler system.

In the big picture the house is unsellable in this market and the land we want to buy may recover in price before we get out of the house....... Going out to the boat to commission the diesel this weekend and will be on the water feet up sipping rum this summer in spite of which way the economy drifts.

 

That is the way Bntii, make it across the pacific and I may see you in Melanesia? - very pretty yacht - looks like a real lady there....

 

I would like nothing more masalai-

The Rhodes is a real sailor- sea kindly & fast. Nice to sail in a blow or the lightest air.

She is close to done- 10k more in bits and then I have only myself to blame.
Of course I could have gone years ago- free as a lark and rough as she was. Shoe string and duck tape serves if one can tie knots and the important bits are sound... as they are and were.

 

May I suggest an 18 to 24 mile radar with a capacity to turn on at say 10 minute intervals, if no echo shut down for 10 minutes then repeat, else if echo bleat an alarm, as the night watch on freighters do not seem to look at their radar very often and a reflector does not make a big enough noise to force them to fear hitting you....

 

Ya- one of the Furuno 2kw kits is on the list. Just on board for watch keeping as you suggest.

That and a suit of sails are the remaining big ticket items- have airies vane and will skip the costly below deck autopilot though would like one if $ permits.

Boston- I am calling a stumble into the open then sell off- charts look fine but I do not trust these waters... thinking of some short positions and forsaking my longs.

 

ya that blip in the market yesterday was a nightmare
I should learn to never trade when the market deviates from trend
but
Ive done well in amateur hour trading on those rare occations that Ive participated
thing is if the S&P opens way high the vast majority of the time it will drop significantly by the end of the day
about 10/7+ times
so it was a good try
I just got stung on it
today Im not actually trading just working on finding a new patern to the market
seeing were it stabilizes and all
I know what you mean about the customers
I havent had a serious call in ages and the ones Ive had were just looky Lou's

kinda drives me nuts
I want to build something

seems its way to easy to sit here and get fat
I need some good old fashioned sweat and work at the end of the day

found a trend and followed it to a nice 2% gain

Ild say hold nothing for more than a few hours at a time and nothing overnight and certainly not over a weekend
you will need one of those satellite tracking dish's so you can trade at sea

 

Seconded- I have built things for a living all my life.
Sitting here staring at these charts is sort of a soulless way to make a buck.

You folk have far more courage than I as far as this "market" goes - man is Bernankie et al heavy into manipulation - I am chicken and have taken position in tangibles, now just sit and pray and wait - Come on you two builders, bring your tools and help me build (therapy and a change of scene for you with free food and accom) and work progress on boat for me.... Who knows I may even convert you to catamaran people and though the broadband is not so fast and I only have 12G/month - you should still be able to trade via your notebooks or memory stick??? (I use "linux mint" and firefox)
