    Gentlemen, ladies -
Following a telephone call from Stu inquiring after my health (I've been dormant for several months now) I feel I should announce that reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated (and I just know someone will steal that line in the future....)
Many thanks Stu for waking me from my torpor, but as i explained I've been fairly tied up in (a) family matters - a daughter in hospital - but recovered and now home; and (b) local politics (I know this is not a forum for such matters - so I won't go into detail, except to say that a groundswell of popular ratepayer feeling demands we rid ourselves of the self-serving, money-grubbing, corrupt and hypocritical bunch of crooks now sitting on the local council.) I've been delegated to prepare a half-dozen campaign speeches, manifestos, and fly-leafs.
    (c) I also mentioned in my last posting that I had acquired a certain amount of 'seasoned' timber from an historic building which had fallen prey to the demolition men. I am in the process of designing and building a suitable vessel from same. Pictures, (interviews and autographs) available further into the project.
And (d) the great novel is now complete and awaits only my agent's approval before being shredded at the publishers.
So to all my colleagues and friends on the forum - many thanks for your inquiries. I am very much alive and kicking. Yours aye, Bergalia

Welcome home Max. Lass would love to be built from that stash of lumber you've just acquired.

Welcome back, Max, but, you're a writer, right, er ... so you know it's poor form to use redundancies. A mere reference to the local council would have sufficed, we'd have surmised all that other stuff. :D

Kidding aside, glad all is well now with you and yours.

Ah yes Bergie. But if you review some of the other quotes which Mr. Twain stole from you, you'd be reminded of quite a few that would be of value in your politcal efforts. :D

tis better than recycling boats to make lumber, but there again is it easier?
