A shipping container transportable multihull

Then your best bet is to buy something like the Farrier F33 and save yourself a lot of hassles, ****, bother, time, unnecessary effort, money, and have the assurance of a "manufacturers warranty & support along with a large network of owners to share ideas & get after-market support.... - So take a trip, buy and sail back.... Will probably get howled down for this but there ARE lots of cruising yachties travelling around on smaller boats than the Farrier F33, which also has a fairly good reputation and popularity For your point D: go to America, that is their motto, Er I think France is similar - Life, Liberty, Egalitarianism ????

i just dont get the whole "shipping container" thingy,,,yes i do see where its cheap,,and easy,,,but also look at the places you'll be going,,most countries dont do much in the way of shipping containers,,,,ya they might get them dropped off in 2 maybe 3 (if its a big country) different places,,,,and these places are usually tourist traps,,,or close by,,,which in turn makes the "plane ticket" thingy not so cheap,,,,then theres costs,,,,isnt it cheaper to rent that size boat locally??,,cause remember,,along with that boat is all them supplies,,,,ropes,,personal effects,,then if you want a boat to get to those "far off" places where theres not 200,000 tourist,,,then,,wouldnt it be cheaper to sail there?,,, i dont know,,,i hate boats,,,been on them since the day i was born,,i just dont see anything comfortable enough about ANY boat you can stick in a little box,,,,and if i have a comfortable boat,,it better get me ANYWHERE i feel like going,,,i cant see spending shipping costs,,when for $100 a day you can do ya same "day sailing" and,,sleep with ya legs out straight in a hotel bed.,,,man i hate boats

Oooooarrrh, GoogleEarth - and yes thay SAILED there - no teleport/ no container travel, just enjoying the passing scenery to stop and appreciate when they want...

While I am on it - I cannot recommend containerised transport of your boat to almost anywhere in the South Pacific outside of Australia & NZ as there are no container lifts... and also they are often DROPPED when the forklifts move the containers.... - Experience I have lived in the region (Islands) and know first hand Look closely (GoogleEarth) at Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, PNG, Kiribati, Samoa, Tahiti - see any large dockside container lifts? - NONE.....

Who wants to go there?, Totally corrupted by handouts from good Ole Usa. Almost complete loss of culture, if it is not in the local PX... That is why the nifty port - to import consumables from USA - check the cost of shipping from Manila to there (one way) then post that amount - I'll sail to Samoa & turn around

ya,,,,,my tent is 18'x22',,no sense on camping and not be comfy ,,,but if i had to be "crunched up" in a 4x4 to get there,,,i'd get a bigger 4x4 or find a different spot
but no matter what,,,,i wouldnt try floating in my tenet hehe

 

That tent is 9'x9' and if you're ten foot tall, your nose will get chewed on by the black flies. I'ld suggest you stick your feet out instead. ;-)

 

I can't really be bothered . . . . . . . . Oh what the hell, I'm bored . . . To sail in that box upwind - Oh well take about - how old are you? - yes that ling... and you will probably find a lot of that floating stuff in your pic too... Hopefully not from the box boat... Generally it is an upwind sail to Western Samoa, but there are favourable winds too - all a matter of timing... Small boats are slightly better off if they "island hop" . . . . Well here's a cabin interior layout thats pretty close to how I would envision shoehorning a place to get out from under the elements while in transit. Once anchorage is secured, a tent structure will be erected with solid telescopic legs and accordian rafters that I picked up at Big 5 Sporting Goods. I would replace the canvas with a custom version with a side vestibule where access to the sleeping/living area would be through a cabin roof flip up hatchway and a second access to the crossbeam deck. So now the very narrow aft cabin will be better served as a full height dedicated kitchen.

I'm still working out the details of the crossbeam and the stowable tent deck sections, but I've narrowed the beams down two four. Two straddling the bathroom and two by the cockpit. Likely to have a fourth minor crossbeam at the bows, too. Also the scantlings are left out. That needs to be figured out, as well. I'll have to see what ISO standards has to say about that for plywood hulls.

PaintShop Pro 5 makes a lousy subsitute for a dedicated CAD shaded renderer, which doesn't come with IntelliCAD (circa 2004), and the furniture is rescanned printout I had penciled. I'm a stick and clutch kinda guy. So the CAD files are DXF drawings.

you need paintshop pro 11 ,,,,and have you ever tried having a tent stay up on shore,,next to the beach???now imagine them winds twice as strong on the water,,,,then not to mention how hot it would be in the sunshine with no shade,,,and the wind wiping between those "walls",,,,have you really put thought into this or are we messing with a teenage boy with a new paintshop?
and thats not putting you down,,im just trying to figure out how a true boat person comes up with some of this stuff,,hehe
