Whitewater Jetboat Racing (Ever heard of it?)

Hello everyone new to your site couldn't find a real good place to put this thread in so I'll post it here. I noticed some of you are from Different countries Spain,England,ect... You probably have heard of rally racing then. What we are invloved in a form of racing that combines Rally Racing, Off Road Racing, and Boat Racing. Are hulls are made of aluminum, the boats run with jet propulsion. The motors start with Mercury V-6 - all the way up to 500+ cuibic inch motors. The boats are equipped with 5 point racing harnesses and at least a 4 point rollbar. The races are held here in the states for the US series. Along with the worlds event that takes place in 4 different countries. Canada, Mexico, United States, and New Zealand. I film these races and with the help of online video hosting I can show people what are sport is all about. There is a lot of behind the scenes saftey that goes into these races that keep the drivers and their equipment safe. I also made a 53 minute DVD of their whole season last year. I ended up selling it throughout the globe. Some of the countries the DVD ended up going to was Canada, New Zealand, Mexico, Australia, And of course the U.S. Here is a video I would like to share with all of you. Hope you like it! Hey thanks! Yes you can say people call us nuts,crazy ect... I would bet that if you were to get a ride in one of these super fast beer cans, it would take a week or more to get the smile off of your face. It truly is a one of a kind sporting event!

 

Well they do say you gotta be crazy to go out on the water so why not go the whole hog and be totally downright completly mad!! And enjoy it!!!

 

Now that's what I'm talking about!

 

Another variation on being downright completely mad is sprint boat racing. Imagine taking those whitewater jet boats, adding more power, and racing them at full throttle in a 2 to 3 meter wide ditch with 90 - 180 degreee turns. Yaaaaaaahhhhhhooooooo!!!!

This sport was invented by some crazy Kiwis when they couldn't find enough rivers and lakes to race around. Naturally, the Aussies wanted to show they could be crazier than the Kiwis. There's no form of politically incorrect, high horsepower, insanely loud, go fast stuff ******* don't want a piece of, so the sport is growing in the US.

"The boats are really getting extreme now. In the "Open/Super Boat Class" boats are running fuel injected engines (406-475 cubic inches average) producing 700-975 horsepower. Some of the most extreme boats are running a 500 cubic inch all aluminum small block, weighing in at 300 pounds with fuel injection bolted on and oil in the engine. These boats are claiming 1000 horse power at 6500 RPM. They are capable of acceleration from 0-80 MPH in 3 seconds. When you watch the videos of the races you can see that some of the boats are making corners near 180 degrees on some tracks depending on how the course is laid out that day. They are making the corners in an area similar to the length of the boats, this being an average of 13 feet 6 inches. To accomplish this at speeds of 70-90 MPH through the corners in the Super Boat class the driver/navigator are subjected to 6-7 g's. In a 90 degree corner they average 3-4 g's. ... imagine your favorite dragster making a 4-5 second run ... sounds neat ... now imagine that same engine in a 40-60 second run."

No doubt about it those guys have very impressive machines. I watched some last year. They turn at break neck speed how fun!!! Are guys run 468cu.in chevy blocks with dry sumps and goobs of horsepower also. I've ridden in numerous races of ours and know what it feels like to crank a boat around at high speeds. I was amazed most at the sprints how much motor they can shove in the back of those 16ft. sprint boats. Very Impressive. Our guys run through classII rapids also. It's like watching Nascar on the river. Here take a look..... This is Idaho.

Yeah, different forms of wild boating. Equal craziness: running a ditch with sharp turns in a little 800 hp boat, running a similar little boat up an ever-changing stretch of whitewater. Great fun either way!
