This is a story related to the cinema, in the days of the saturday afternoon cowboy show with a moralistic message eg "the lone ranger" who was never alone as Tonto has there to help him out. Us bigger kids were in the evening session.

Any one film had a very poignant scene where the third lead character was bemoaning the wounding leading to death of his "lady interest" all very emotional and moving. At last the hero enters and this poor sod asks the hero "What will I do?" to which a young lad in the back of the theatre yells out "Fcuk er wile shees warm ya mug!".
The juvenile audience cracked up, "smarties" (chocolate covered lollies that were good projectiles for a small shanghai) were thrown everywhere, supervisors and other staff buzzed around with torches flashing. Oh what a highlight in the night out for a young lad.

she dresses like me with sarong/lavalava (male dress without the sporran) and shoes & socks. Looks bloody funny, kept for home wearing only. I am usually shirtless, wish she was!

Hamburg launches 'kite-driven' ship The MS Beaufort and its SkySail

The SkySails system purports to be able to lower a ship's annual average fuel costs by between 10 and 35 per cent. (File photo) (www.skysails.info: Supplied)

The world's first commercial merchant ship pulled by a giant high-tech kite aiding its engines to slash fuel consumption and cut greenhouse gas emissions was launched in Hamburg on Saturday (local time).

The pioneering 132-metre long MV Beluga SkySails was ceremonially launched in the northern German port ahead of its maiden voyage across the Atlantic to Venezuela in early January.

Pulled by a huge kite to catch strong winds up to 300 metres above the surface, the 500,000 euro ($837,200) SkySails system is projected to cut fuel costs by about 20 per cent - or about $1,600 per day.

It will also reduce CO2 output, which is blamed for climate change, by a similar amount, designers say.

"The shipping industry emits 800 million tonnes of CO2 now and that will rise to over 1 billion tonnes in five years," said Niels Stolberg, the chief executive of Beluga Shipping GmbH that helped develop the system.

"Playing a role in reducing emissions is important for us... It's important to look at the commercial side of this [saving fuel costs] but also the CO2 aspect.

"In a few years, shipping companies will have to cut emissions or pay a price."

Mr Stolberg, who plans to install the paraglider-shipped kite system on two more vessels twice as large as the MV Beluga SkySails by 2009, said the fuel savings will cover the costs of the investment in the system within next three to five years.

More than 450 people crowded into the harbour and on to the ship on a freezing afternoon to witness the launching and watch the giant white sail tethered to a 15-metre high mast near its bow unfold, just above the deck in a gentle breeze.
