wouldn't it steer better if the front platoon was stationary and the motor was used to steer in the rear?

 

1.) You'd also sink it and push the cost into the next atmosphere.

2.) Probably, but it is his boat, after all. When he starts asking me to buy it, I start questioning the steering responsiveness.

I had something like it

I restored two old "Ski-Horses" from the 1970s. There were like a jet ski but had a little outboard on the back. There were awesome! The steering was responsive and they hauled ***. I put a metal ring around the prop (prop guard) in case I fell off and ran myself over...but the kill switch was enough.

There was a model in the '60s called a Hydrocycle. I'd like to see a gang of tuffs cruising down the river on custom versions of these:
