But Hell! we're now trying to catchup, and if Iraq won't get one started when we attack Iran that might work, and if that don't we'll look for some other poor innocent to beat the **** out of!

Ended two of 'em, didn't do much fighting 'cos we came to the party late!

Nobody asked you too! (and more to the point if this is a result of your cleaning up, don't bother - in fact your the only people to 'clean up' apart from the loosers of course, who are now little americas!

Good job we're allies ain't it! Wonder what it would be like if we really hated each other!

Still to quote a famous American (yes there are a few) "blood is thicker than water!"

Loads of qoutes out there. How about this one: "Every 10 years or so, the United States needs to pick up some small crappy little country and throw it against the wall, just to show the world we mean business". (Michael Ledeen)

It's a boating forum, so I don't really want to discus politics here, but people who still believe that US military interventions are always for the good of the mankind, should take careful look at this long list.

the Sad thing is that they are so unsecure that they maintain troops in all the countries that are SUPPOSED to be their allies, us (Britain) you (Netherlands) Germany, Spain etc etc the list is endless. If we're such good friends why do you need to maintain armed troops in our countries - in case we stop being friends? We even have laws to prevent us getting at the American troops! The Yank Troops in our country are (unlike the Brits who also live here!) above the law! And I bet if we've got laws like that everybody else has too, good eh! [Hell why didn't we think of that]

Bit late there mate Brittannia has been gone for some time now, would still be beautiful ship had she been left alone though! But I doubt if the government will let her have another one! Pity it looked good! something to be proud of (not just the British either but the whole damn Commonwealth - she's your Queen to!

At least 10 years ago I read an article about Ben Rich, formerly head of Lockheed's skunk works and originator of the F117, in it he described the design, capabilities and operation of the Sea Shadow.
Also discussed was his attempts, as leader of the Skunk Works, to sell stealthed subs and carriers to the US navy, the sub design used faceting to counter active sonar. Rich described how it was impossible to sell such new concepts for subs to the naturally conservative navy and how, given the navies reluctance to commit to a faceted sub, he could only imagine how the navy would regard a 1000 foot long carrier that "looked like a new age pyramid". I'm pretty sure that the design Rich was talking about was based on the concepts demonstrated in the sea shadow and so were likely to be similar to Dook's ideas.

With the recent move by the navy towards stealthed surface combatants it seems likely that at some stage they will look at stealthed carriers, having a fleet in which only the carriers weren't stealthed wouldn't be sensible.
