    Tim I'm bloody jealous, I'm stuck in Islington doing a full night 'cos the local EHO has erved a form 60 (noise abatement) notice on the outfit I work for! I'd rather be in the Railway slinging pints back with you mate and taking the pee out of the world, but ho hum must earn the odd crust!

    Enjoy the night guys! now get out there and give em hell

    Mike

    Hi Safewalrus,
    It was a good night out but probably of not much interest to you.
    However last night I was again in the same pub being interviewed about the discovery of the boat by the correspondent for one of the main Norwegian Daily Newspapers ....after over half a century on this planet (and a lot of it in Meols!), is this fame at last I ask myself? Now just waiting for all those blonde, blue eyed
    scandinavian babes to get in touch.:p

    Heck, we're all scandinavians. And the borders and areas we have owned each have been changing constantly. It really is like Wally is saying: Same tribe (except: Not the shetlands, of course. But Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Denmark, the Faroe Islands). Most of us understand each other language wise, we have a common history, and our "kingdoms" historically were mostly practical solutions.

    :::::::::::::::

    I just looked "ombudsmand" (the danish term) up in a dictionary. It says that the english lifted it directly from danish. Again, though, the function of the ombudsmand were working all over Scandinavia long before the current borders were in effect.

    But, ask us and the norwegians about Tordenskjold - now that's an entirely different matter! ;-)

    Merely a 'localised' squabble, Bagger. You would have been better employed joining the Scots in sorting out the English....And it might have prevented the emergence of ABBA....:(

    haha, yep - assuming you mean the skills presented here:

    ?

    But, hey - what "sold" Vikings to the women over there was the weekly showers (yes, that's rather often, I know). Most accounts of "raping women" were written by clerical people. No need if you wash yourself often enough, apparently :cool:
