    We are a litigious society.

Hmm. I always thought it was litiginous, so looked it up, too. Litiginous is exactly synonymous with litigatious, which means pretty much the same thing as litigious, but I agree now that the best use, if describing a society, is litigious.

Is a member legally responsible if advice given in a forum leads to property damage or personal injury? Don't answer that, its a rhetorical question. There are enough ambulance chasers in my neck of the woods to scare the beejeesus out of anyone who stops to think about it.

Slippery slope, indeed. Agree with your last point, Doug, just wish you hadn't brought it up in the first place.

So how would you sue a person in Upper Mongolia, when their legal system is different to yours ?

This means that you can insult / slander a person as long as you are not in the same country .....

Ooops setting myself up a bit ....LOL

Antonfourie - We can now serve an extradition order within countries that support this. So perhaps we could have sueing agreements between countries. We could start the international sueing agency. Maybe a price list would be easy.

Calling someone a mother#@cker $10 of course international exchange rates would apply.

Acusing someone of having an unusual relationship with an animal $2,500. Unless of course it was a politician then the $2,500 would be paid to the animal.

The international sueing agency would take a handling fee.

First the personal attacks thread ... and now this ... from someone that argues with people trying to agree with them ...

Makes you wonder ... surely it does ... :D

So my posts on the ugly boat thread could cost me money? I dont think so - any judge can see that sticking a pole and a bit of rag on a hull makes the boat ugly...
