petereng: Villa from above - AC72 Design

Villa was a personal design project on 2010. I did a preliminary design for a AC72 when the first rules were released to get an understanding of the design space. The two difficult areas where the displacement changed from 8500kg to 7500kg in the second rule release which threw out the hull design and the inside waterline width and maximum waterline wideth meant that the hull shape ande cant I wanted had to be reviewed. Otherwiuse I established a budget weight for most components. I did linear and non linear FE on the hulls, daggerboards rudder and platform. I investigated many platform configurations of which the pole size & how it was supported became the driveing factor.
