colinhilton: Self-Launching Boat

I am returning to watercraft design following a prolonged absence whilst developing people-carrying drones. The project was at the outset an outline for a flat-pack catamaran and drew on common means of construction that I'd used for both water- and aircraft. Somewhere along the line I decided to combine these two pursuits within a single vehicle that could traverse both land and water, not least to facilitate launch and recovery. The obvious solution might be to apply four lift motors to a craft with separate means of forward propulsion, but it is also the laziest. The current project thus (quite literally) hinges upon a pair of cantilevered motors and propellers at the rear that can be hoisted upright in order to transition from the hover to travel upon water and littoral surfaces.
