colinhilton: Proof of Concept (8' build)

A total rebuild to adapt the same outline to 8' instead of 10' for two pressing reasons: firstly the weight (and this has reduced it by two kilos to 6.2kg or 13.5lb) and secondly due material concerns. Principal among these is that the hydroskis are laminated foam skirting supplied in five metre lengths (a little over sixteen feet) and cutting a single length in half now provides for a pair of hydroskis. Additionally lengths and sheets of carbon-fiber arrive in metre dimensions in the UK and much of the world, and reducing the flotation sections and centre-deck to 100 by 33 centimetres will allow for a transition to this material. The original plan called for a forward pair of cantilevers as long as the flotation panels, though this has had to be reduced to meet the shorter length of hydroski adopted for the above reasons.The upper spars are 1.80m or six feet in length and the lower adjacent the hydroskis are 1.50m or five feet in length. With pontoons 33cm high, motors at the rear will coincide with each upper edge to provide adequate clearance for 11" propeller blades.
