Previous build experience with model catamarans suggests that a length-to-width ratio between two-and-a-half and three looked about right, as indeed it does here.The chosen dimensions are to suit construction from a stock sheet of ply that will be used to skin three 48" x 16" x 1" foam panels, together forming a deck and sides. These provide a nominal displacement of 40lb with a waterline pitched around halfway up the sides of each pontoon.
