Robert Biegler: Hinged Bruce foiler concept

The original Bruce foil tended to lose its grip on the water when sailing upwind in waves with the foil to weather. Hagedoorn proposed putting the foil on a hinge to reduce it rotational inertia, and curving it so that it would pull down more when it starts coming out of the water. This figure shows how to combine these ideas.
