colinhilton: Flat-Pack Surface-Effect Craft
Half-scale iteration of the pattern provided, which needs correcting in that the 'wedge' at either end must match the width of the fore and aft planes (48") and terminate not half way along each 4' X 8' sheet but circa 42" as per Pythagoras. Serendipitously this also pitches the planes at 30 degrees. Made from a mix of 20mm and 10mm foam due stock issues, it includes 20lb of ballast to represent the pilot. Test demonstrated the craft draws practically no depth and the ballast levels the waterline due the bulk of buoyancy being rearward... so there is considerable latitude in placement of motors and aero-propellers, whether a pair of 6kW units or four. Producing up to 50lb of thrust matched with 32" propellers, this should be sufficient to power the full-scale prototype by remote control.
