colinhilton: Dual Motor-Mount
With two prior hanging from the rafters, work commences on rigging motors to the working prototype and I focus on contra-rotating pusher-props for three reasons: (a) it eliminates the use of a rudder (b) it balances nose-heavy trim and (c) it allows for a seat up-front at scale. Stripwood grafts extend the lats by 4" in support of a cross-bar to which the motors are mounted. In this case a wardrobe tube-support bracket fixed to the rear of the motor is fitted to a dowel screwed to the cross-bar. Going forward, in order to make this assembly more compact the rear motor will be push-fit in this way, although the forward will be bolted flush to the timber. The cross-bar can be tilted for replacement of props... or the entire drive-assembly swapped out.
