colinhilton: Draft Design and Template for Surface-Effect Craft

Re-iteration of a design dating from 2012 which forms a practical basis for the application of electrical motors and propellers evolved since. The outline is formed of five sheets of material, ideally a laminated core foam of conventional four-by-eight feet dimension. Comprising five sheets, two are cut as shown and form the fuselage and perimeter sides, a third divided in half lengthways and applied to upper and lower fuselage to seal, and the remaining pair are attached as canted planes to develop both hydrodynamic and aerodynamic lift. Static tests of a scale model to determine the waterline will influence the decision as to where to locate the motors, although this is likely to be either four units at the leading edges of each 'wing' or else a simple pair pitched forward in the wake of the trailing edge of the forward plane. The basic production unit is thus eight feet wide by twelve long and might therefore be piloted or un-piloted in the effort to transition to flight clear of the water surface.
