colinhilton: Design Freeze

A working outline that can (a) be built with DIY materials but (b) readily doubled in scale. By way of a rider, note this prototype is foreshortened to 6' in order to be stored upright indoors. Nonetheless it takes as a starting point 2' by 4' (or 4' by 8') plywood sheet to skin the sides of the pontoons and upper side of the bridge; the inset void in each case filled with foam sheet. The only variable remains the beam, which for testing is set to a minimum but which can be expanded to facilitate the use of lift motors or to suit a trailer. Retaining the dimensions seen here however allows scope for 32' craft which meet road haulage restrictions of 8' whilst remaining identical in shape.
